Hi there,
Your profile was at 7150 on our side, though I've bumped it to 5000 to match your post above - hope that improves things?

Re: IP Profile stuck at 0.14mbps

Hi Mtrueman,
Welcome to the forums.
From the information you have provided, the figures report a large difference between synch rate and data rate.  The previous PN profile (maximum data transfer speed) which Matt has adjusted down to your current synch rate, could imply that your line was synching previously at a much higher speed than it is just now.  (BT provide the profile figures to pn based upon historic synch rates.). It is believed that having a PN profile significantly higher than the BT profile can cause issues, which is why Matt has made the change.
This might fix the problems you are experiencing, however to ensure that you are getting the best that your line can achieve, it would be useful to see the FULL router stats please, including SNRM, attenuation and error counts.  If you need guidance on doing this there are some helpful 'sticky posts' at the top of the forum, or just tellu s which router you have and someone will point you in the right direction.

Re: IP Profile stuck at 0.14mbps

Download speed is still stuck at 0.11 mb. This has happened to me in the past and someone did push a button and everything got reset back to full speed. My line does nomally sync at around 7mb, but does drop during bad weather to about 5. This has, in the past, caused my ipprofile to drop and in one case, get stuck at very low values (in this case 0.14). Normally the BT ipprofile does rise back up to full speed over a few hours/days,  but its not shifted now for 36 hours.

Re: IP Profile stuck at 0.14mbps

OK, though this is a little helpful, we need to see the FULL set of Router Stats, including modulation mode please.  Which router are you using?  You can fid out how to get all of the stats here - http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.php - where is loads of other helpful information too.
15dB is quite high, but bringing that down to 6dB is not (on its own) likely to get this line anywhere near the 17.6mbps (if ADSL2) or 8.1mbps (if ADSL1) forecast for 26dB attenuation.
Is the router in the master socket?
Are there any extension phones, if yes how are they wired?
Do you have a test socket behind the master socket?  Can you plug in here and see if that improves matters?
Is the phone line noisy - dial 17070 option 2 - the line should be silent, aside from the noisy woman shouting "quiet line test" so watch your ear drums!

Re: IP Profile stuck at 0.14mbps

Thanks for getting back to me.
The router is in an adsl faceplate and the only other phone on the line is the one that comes out of this, alongside the cable to the router
The router is a Netgear DG834G and the stats on the statistics page are as follows. (apologies for the bad layout)
Port         Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
WAN PPPoA 39954 35362 0 1536 7823 00:59:47
LAN 10M/100M 167359 320129 0 410 433 43:37:02
WLAN 11M/54M 22685543 22555150 0 3044 1102 43:36:52
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5056 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 26 db 6 db
Noise Margin 15 db 25 db
Router Firmware version V4.01.28
ADSL firmware version 6.01.00.12
PPPoA, VPI = 0, VCI = 38
No noise on the line that i can hear.

Re: IP Profile stuck at 0.14mbps

Thanks.
These stats do not indicate the modulation type.  Your historic 7mbps might suggest ADSL 1 (which is odd!).
A SNRM reset might help a bit, but I would also do a faults test here - http://faults.plus.net - just in case there is also a problem with the line.
@Matt,
It is interesting to note the implication (from up times) that the router was rebooted nearly 2 days ago, but the PPP session has only been up an hour.  Would a radius log graph be informative here?

Happy to post one:

Not looking all that bad to be honest, but hope it is helpful.

Re: IP Profile stuck at 0.14mbps

If it helps, my exchange is this one
http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/EANDL
Ive submitted a faults ticket, so hopefully they will be able to look into it further.
In my router, there is a dropdown that is set to ADSL (G.DMT) with the option of ADSL2+, but i've never changed the value in this dropdown. Maybe i should change this?

ADSL is correct for your exchange. BT have yet to announce a date for the exchange to be upgraded to WBC/ADSL2+.

Re: IP Profile stuck at 0.14mbps

Generally, if there's an Auto setting it's best to leave it on that and in your case it will auto negotiate ADSL1. If your exchange is ever upgraded it would mean you'd pick up the ADSL2+ without having to change the settings.

Re: IP Profile stuck at 0.14mbps

Oh poor you!!
Market 1, out in the sticks, no 21CN WBC service - I think this means no ADSL2+ for you!
G.DMT is ADSL (1)
Is there an "AUTO" option?  If yes, then try that and the modem will get as best as it can find.
You could try ADSL2 (G.992.3).- though given that there is no 21CN WBC, it might not work at all!

Now that it is apparent that you are working as ADSL1, getting your SNRM down from 15db to 6dB should deliver at least 1.2mbps more IF you line is clean enough / stable enough to support it.

@Matt - as you suggest from the radius log, the line looks stable, is it worth doing a reset?  Is there any DSLAM history which points to why the TARGET SNRM is so high?  Is there any indication to the cause of the PPP disconnect earlier today?

Re: IP Profile stuck at 0.14mbps

To be honest, the 1.2mb more isnt what im after. Id like a connection that isnt struggling along at 0.1mb  Angry . Im more than happy with my general day to day line speed (especially in the summer when i get up to 7mb), but i need to be able to get more than 0.1 from tomorrow night as im on night duty and cant be dealing with logging into a remote desktop environment while tethered into my phone.
And i think a "reset" is what was done previously in order to get this fixed. My line then synced at just under 8mb and i was flying along... until it rained again (at which point it usually drops to about 5mb) Sad

Re: IP Profile stuck at 0.14mbps

Have you raised a fault about the speed dropping when it rains?
If you can get 7mbps in the summer you should get the same in the winter!
