IP Profile/ speed boost Helppp :D

Hey guys, a week ago i had a storm which knocked our phone line off (turned out to be the phone socket fried) so i havent had internet for the whole week. BT came and fixed it today, so now obviously the broadband is working but at horrible speeds untill it it gets back to normal.
So my question is can you guys give the ip profile or whatever a budge to help raise the speeds quicker as a week is enough pain for me without the internet, now ive got it back i wanna be back to normal not wait more days pulling my hair out haha (withdrawal symptons), took me long enough to get to this point to post a thread :D.
Couldnt believe it when it went out as it wasnt long ago i had an engineer out to fix the wiring in the house to sort the speeds out, finally get everything sorted and a storm comes and now im back to bad speeds, bad luck Sad
Thanks in advance if you can help!

Re: IP Profile/ speed boost Helppp :D

The connection logs definitely paint a clear picture of the issue:
<img src="http://ccgi.psmith12.plus.com/visradius/generated/image13464070257483.png" />
I'm going to reset the line for you which should help providing that there are no other issues at play that might cause disconnections or an increase in SNR.
Let me know how things are after a couple of hours.

Re: IP Profile/ speed boost Helppp :D

There's no issue relating to a profile mismatch at the moment. SNR resets can take up to 24 hours but to be honest I'd expect to have seen at least some improvement by now.
I'd advise raising a fault if things are no better 24 hours on from when I processed the reset for you: http://faults.plus.net

Re: IP Profile/ speed boost Helppp :D

but doesnt a low ip profile mean the speed cant raise? because my ip profile says its 0.14 :S how does that increase? will raise a fault now, if an engineer has to come out again when one came today checked the line etc was fine il be annoyed as its a nightmare trying to get a bt engineer out promptly nowadays.
Latest speedtest is the same download speed.. my upload speed is at normal thought 0.38mb i dont know if that means anything or not?
Im gonna try using a different router + test socket, before aising a fault as i just tryed raising a fault but cant load the page my net is that bad.

Re: IP Profile/ speed boost Helppp :D

Good news, speed has raised up to 4mb Cheesy 1-2 mb to go and its back to normal. Ip profile showing as 4mb now to. Will that keep raising til i get to 5.5mb-6mb like before? because a month or so back now i had an engineer rewire, master socket etc in my house to fix that problem where it stayed at 4mb.

Hi there,
Just to clarify the IP profile wasn't low so it wasn't an issue, the only time we can make an adjustment to fix a profile issue directly would be for example if the profile on our systems did not match BT's IP profile, in that instance we could adjust our profile to bring them in line with each other again.
Just to mention we're unable to raise faults via here, simply as we'd not be party to all the information requested, in the event of the checker not working correctly for you we'd advise you to call in.

Hopefully it will following a line reset I've just performed. From running a line test I can see a reduction in the IP profile and the fault threshold rate as it looks like they were recalculated when the line was still seeing some disconnections.
Let me know if you don't see any change after 24 hours.

Re: IP Profile/ speed boost Helppp :D

No change so far, still at 4mb. Bt are supposed to drop off the master filter plate for the telephone connection box sometime this week, as they didnt have one at the time so im using micro filters at the moment, not sure if thatl make a difference to speed or not.

A line test should show me if that's an issue and I'm not seeing anything.
I'm going to recommend raising a fault as the next step: http://faults.plus.net do let me know when you've done that.

Re: IP Profile/ speed boost Helppp :D

Will raise a fault when i get a chance. Just for reference... http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,105257.0.html ; -  theres a link to the thread i made a while back with this exactly problem, stuck at 4mb, wouldnt raise. BT engineer came out sorted the sockets in the house to make my main one a master socket etc and it fixed it.
