Re: IP Profile reset?

The non-zero FEC errors indicate interleaving is enabled. Perhaps your line cannot cope with the 3db target noise margin.

Re: IP Profile reset?

The annoying thing is I'm on a new and developing housing estate and can just about see the Green cabinet from my house. The cabling is all underground and about 2 years old.
Wish I could get fibre 😞

Re: IP Profile reset?

Your line is just not good enough to deal with the 3dB margin I'm afraid. That's why your speed is so bad, due to the errors this margin is generating. Your connection will be better at 6dB.

That's somewhat irrelevant I'm afraid. It's your distance from the exchange that's the problem. Your line is attenuated too much to handle a low margin. Openreach don't recommend a 3dB margin unless you're within 1K of an exchange (that's what a BTO engineer told me). You're attenuation (49dB) suggests you are just over 3.5K away.

Re: IP Profile reset?

Thanks.
Assuming we will get Fibre (another 200 homes planned to be built plus a pub) will this become irrelevant? Assuming we are deemed "economically viable"?
Plus....used to get about 6.5mgps. Is that possible on a higher SNR?

Not completely, but a lot less, yes. FTTC (which you will most likely get) is fibre to the 'cabinet' (the green boxes you see by the road) and then a phone line to your house. Effectively therefore, your line becomes as long as the distance to the cabinet.
If you put your phone number in here (https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html) you can see if your cabinet is planned to have fibre. In addition, if you put your phone number in here (http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange_search) you can see if FTTC is planned at your exchange.

Re: IP Profile reset?

We have to wait for the 10 day training period which ends on the 13th before a SNR reset can be placed.

Re: IP Profile reset?

Its settling a little now. Roughly getting 5.6mgps with the odd drop out.
The ping has increased though?Huh
Oh and its about 5.1dB now. If it remains stable at that speed I can live with it.

Now due to me fiddling around and trying to get to know my best settings, i have had a numbered of disconnections due to constant restarting by me. My stas are below and my snr is also at 6, is there anything you can do as my profile at bt has dropped down and my d/l is around 3 meg lower as a consequence.

Re: IP Profile reset?

Hi harps1h,
I've requested the reset for you, should take effect within the next few hours - hope it gets you back up to your previous speed.
