IP Profile reduced

Hi
After a power cut earlier today my IP Profile reduced to 0.25. When am I likely to see ths to back to normal?
BT Speedtester says line speed around 6500 upload and IP profile of 0.25. Plus net Screen says IP profile of 0.25.
Can someone post my connection log graph?
Thanks.

Re: IP Profile reduced

It looks as though you are on a 20CN exchange and recovery of profiles can take 3 days! However your target noise margin also looks as though it gone to 15dB and your sync speed it not at the maximum your line should achieve. If you line is normally stable with few disconnects then Plusnet may do a line reset for you.

Re: IP Profile reduced

Re: IP Profile reduced

It does seem to be due to a dropping connection. You've done the right thing by raising a fault ticket so we'll just need to focus on getting the connection more stable now before the speed can be increased again.

Re: IP Profile reduced

Well yes, almost obvious! But apart from his powercut does the line seem stable?

The graph says it all, I'm happy with that.

Re: IP Profile reduced

ok came home today and checked my internet uptime and its gone back to just over 2 hours .. which must mean it was disconnected this afternoon.  Cry
Pick phone up to make a call and no dial tone.  Call house from mobile and phone rings.  Then try to dial out again and dial tone again.
I have no master socket, external NTE (?) grey box on outside of house with 3 internal phone points.  One has an alarm fitted to it (closest to NTE), which hasn't been dialling out, another has the main phone and sky box connected to it - living room  (1 filter, splitter to 2 leads then connected) and the third has the broadband router connected to it upstairs in study.
Have disconnected the sky box and the alarm for now.. will hope that I don't have to wait another 3 days to find out if things have improved!
Off to buy a 3G dongle to get a decent connection...

I'm looking at this now for you. I'm performing a full set of diagnostic tests first and I'll be in touch very soon.

Re: IP Profile reduced

Cheers for taking my call, glad to hear that the dialtone is back but that you are having problems with disconnections and a further reduction to the IP profile.
As mentioned do reply back here when you've disconnected the other devices from the line and tried the spare router and we'll see how things go from there.

Re: IP Profile reduced

Hi Adam,
Thanks for the call .
Have disconnected everything from all internal phone sockets, except broadband with a filter.
Have not changed router yet.. will see if this stabilises first. If keeps disconnecting over the next 24 hours or so I will swap router and go from there.  Other router is a Netgear DGN3500.  I had this plugged in until the power cut on Monday, when I swapped it for the standard PlusNet Thomson router.
BT Speedchecker results;
Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.07 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.05 Mbps-0.25 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :6.91 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 0.14 Mbps
Router stats:
DSL Type: G.992.1 annex A
Channel mode: Interleave
Maximum Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,152 / 6,976
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 6,912
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/MB]: 0.00 / 35.50
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 19.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 13.5 / 23.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 27.0 / 15.5
IP Profile still seems to be the issue.
Thanks for your continued help.

Re: IP Profile reduced

No problem,
I'm away from work until Monday now so I'll be in touch then, otherwise if there's any issues in the meantime do post back here and I'm sure one of my colleagues will pick it up for you.

Re: IP Profile reduced

I noticed my IP profile (both on BT speedchecker and plus net pages) had been restored to 6MB.
But on the BT speedchecker I was still only getting a speed of 0.25mb.  I disconnected internet from router and rebooted router and the speed has been restored.
Have also changed all filters that I have been using.
Will monitor over the next few days, here's hoping it has been fixed.
