Re: IP Profile change please

I realise that, but getting people putting statements like this
"i can see that in your area and for your number we would expect to see a line speed of between 512kbps and 1mbps so a line profile of 2000kbps is actually significantly higher than what we would expect."
on a fault call, when I know they are wrong, just peaves me off.
I'm currently on a profile of 2500 and a speed of 2.43 mbps up, 0.38mbps down. samknows nothing about my line, and what speed I can get, and relying on that site as a basis of trying to resolve a fault call shouldn't happen.

Re: IP Profile change please

whys my profile back at 2000 when it was bouncing off the top of the 2500 range. This is getting REALLY annoying.

Re: IP Profile change please

Hi DBB,
I think the main reason are these disconnections...

You can troubleshoot this intermittent connection here

Re: IP Profile change please

Looking at those disconnections on Tuesday, how the heck has it managed to stay as high as 2000? I'd of expected much worse!

Re: IP Profile change please

so when can I expect my profile to return to 2500, and are you saying I can NEVER disconnect my router or else my speed will drop through the floor.
Thats one hell of a bad system where one days playing with IPs can result in weeks of slow downsload speed.

Re: IP Profile change please

HI DBB,
The disconnections on Tuesday night were probably the cause of the drop as rebooting in the evening is never the best option, daylight hours is always the best. The safest way to reboot is to disconnect then reconnect via the router interface. This shouldn't have any effect on the DLM.

I did. Apart from tonight (once), its only been switched off once in over 2 weeks at the socket.
So does my pc now need to be on 24/7 so BT doesn't hammer my profile, then want me to wait weeks to get it back to the level it was at. If so, thats a crap system I've signed into.

Re: IP Profile change please

It's only the router that needs to stay on, not the PC.
The bunch of disconnects on Tuesday says that you lost your routers connection to the exchange. That typically is a router reboot - if you trigger a reboot through the router interface it's pretty much the same as if you power off the router.
You should have a separate disconnect/reconnect option which does not drop the connection to the exchange but only the connection to Plusnet.

this is what I was doing. Currently stuck on 2464000 and a profile of 2000 till the crap system decides it may put my speed back up, sometime, in the future, when it decides it may want to. That is what I find so disatisfactory.

Re: IP Profile change please

system decided to DROP my speed even further.
Now at 2432000,
This is totally unacceptable.
Is anyone even going to look at this issue.

Re: IP Profile change please

If your sync speed has changed it means your router or the exchange has dropped sync. You need to find out why the disconnections are occurring as they are the cause of your lowered sync speed.

Dropped twice in the last hour. Now at 2368000
I have raised a fault, but all they do is state
"Thank you for your query. The acceptable range of speeds is 400-2000 Kbps. as your speeds are in this range there is little that we can do with regards to raising a fault as our suppliers will not acknowledge a problem. This is the expected speed for your line. "
and thats it. They don't even try to diagnose why its dropping like a stone.
So until it drops below 400 kbps they won't give a damn.

Re: IP Profile change please

Did you raise a poor speed or a dropping connection fault?

Re: IP Profile change please

both. Dropped connection happens when the line is resynching. Happened about 5 times yesterday, and now at a new all time low of 2400000. I had to factory reset my main router yesterday as it failed to connect and had lost the IP, so been up for 13 hours at the moment.  This will take weeks before its at a "decent" rate.
