IP Profile bump?

Is it possible to bump my IP profile? It seems to have dropped from around 4000 to 2000.

Estimated line speed:
    8Mb (Accurate to within +/- 1Mbit) - Checked on 2011-12-13 07:45:29
Current line speed:
    2 Mb

Download speed achieved during the test was - 1707 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 400-2000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :4320 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2000 Kbps

I was able to reach download speeds of up to 750kb/s but now it has dropped to 250kb/s.
Thanks.

Re: IP Profile bump?

Hi Barrytrcy,
Your profile on BT and PN are both the same at 2000. Where are you seeing these speeds? Are you using any extension cables/sockets? Could you plug into the test socket so I can re-check your line?

Re: IP Profile bump?

Hi Jojo,
My brother disconnected the current router we're using now and replaced it with the original Thomson then switched them back. A day after doing that I noticed a speed drop from 700 kb/s to 250 kb/s max.
We're on wireless so we don't have any extension cables plugged in.. we also don't have a test socket.  Undecided

Re: IP Profile bump?

Hi Barrytrcy,
Ok, make sure you don't have anything plugged in any extensions and run a BT speed test using a wired connection to the router. Once you've done that if you could post the results here we can look towards the next step.

Re: IP Profile bump?

Here you go.
Download speed achieved during the test was - 1728 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 400-2000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :4320 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2000 Kbps
These results are from a wired connection to the router.

Re: IP Profile bump?

I suspect the Digicare team monitoring this forum might have all gone home by now - at least you appear to be getting a usable download speed at the moment but at 4320 kbps synch the BT (and PN) profile ought to be nearer 3500kbps at a rough guess (unfortunately 2000 appears to be one of the commonest numbers for it to "stick" on, although that could be coincidence.)
(If you leave everything as it is there's a chance it might correct itself overnight, but if not I'm sure the Digicare team will pick it up again for you in the morning.)  Smiley

Re: IP Profile bump?

Hi Barrytrcy,
It does seem to be stuck. I'll reset the line and see if that kicks it into action. I'll keep an eye on it and let you know later.

Re: IP Profile bump?

Is it meant to be this slow after being reset? If so, how long do changes take to occur?

Re: IP Profile bump?

HI Barrytrcy,
No it's not. I've just ran a check and you#re only getting a sync of 160k. Can you reboot the router for me please?

Re: IP Profile bump?

Hi Jojo,
I have just reset the router as you asked. Hopefully the speed should increase?

Re: IP Profile bump?

Sorry Jojo, I must have been outside.
So what's the next step at fixing the speed now then?  Smiley
edit: Just did another speed test and found a few previous results..

Today:

Yesterday:

Before the speed increased to 750kb/s:

Re: IP Profile bump?

Hi Barrytrcy,
Thanks for your time on the phone. Looks like the change of router has sorted it. We just need to wait for the BT profile to lift now.
