Re: IP Profile - 88.2% method

I give up and might change to other isp's who will leave profile uncapped ! I don't like the idea of updated every 12 hours to get the Plusnet profile matched BT profile. Al I want is instant straight away. I think Plusnet is the only isp's had to match BT profile is rather silly.

Re: IP Profile - 88.2% method

At present if you run an update and a delta report comes in immediately after then there is a 12 hour (used to be 24 hour) delay before the Plusnet mirror is updated.
Now if, on receipt of a delta report, the profile was updated on an individual basis that wouldn't be a problem but as far as I am aware it is done by a script being run which checks all the accounts and updates where necessary. If I am correct then there is clearly a practical limit to how often you run the script

Re: IP Profile - 88.2% method

If Plusnet did 24 hours updated to the profile before and now 12 hours, as why can't they change it to 1 hour instead ? Surely they can do this.

That's what we've said a couple of times already in this thread:
[quote=Joanne Pilson]Once the new system is in place, if these reports are any more frequent we'll look at how we will deal with them.

Re: IP Profile - 88.2% method

Excuse me for labouring the point
If the delta reports are received at present on an individual line basis and not as a block feed from BT then the reports won't be any more frequent just quicker after a speed change (unless there is a line problem causing multiple resyncs.) so if you can increase the frequency why not start doing it now
Of course if you receive, and will continue to receive, bulk updates from BT then the point is moot

Re: IP Profile - 88.2% method

Oldjim - why can't you try move to IDNet and you will notice uncapped ip profile at IDNet end! Your profile will change instant! Don't know why Plusnet isn't doing this!

Re: IP Profile - 88.2% method

For the package I am on Value - £6.49 per month 10GB included plus unlimited overnight usage
ID Net lowest package - £15.31 per month 2GB peak allowance 10GB off peak allowance
Does that answer the question.
Secondly my line is normally very stable so it doesn't affect me personally to any great extent

Re: IP Profile - 88.2% method

We aren't changing the frequency yet as we *need* to see how often and the impact of the delta reports are received. For example, if they sent instantly but individually to us from BT, how much load does that create rather than processing as a batch. Will queueing them up individually one after another cause any slowdowns in processing, what happens if one gets missed etc etc.

Re: IP Profile - 88.2% method

Oldjim, you are right there and I think IDNet are expensive too because they leave it uncapped profile while Plusnet had a bargain cheaper value but still capped profile at their end. You're are right there. I left IDNet ages ago because they far expensive now but I guess that you get pay for uncapped service (highest speed) When I was with them on ADSL up to 8 Meg and IDNet leave it uncapped profile at 7150K and BT end was 6500K before it rise to 7150K within 72 hour.

Re: IP Profile - 88.2% method

Chris, you can change it from 12 hours to 1 hour instead, surely it not a hard work to do this!

Re: IP Profile - 88.2% method

Before we do that we need to see the impact the new delta reports are going to have. It's not a difficult change to make IIRC (I'm not a developer though) but we need to make sure it isn't going to cause a negative impact before doing so.

Re: IP Profile - 88.2% method

Well something's not working too well...
My BT profile seems to have been changed to an 88.2% one after a resynch on the 23rd. Its now at 11515 but my PlusNet one seems to be stuck at 10000.

Re: IP Profile - 88.2% method

@MisterW, I've moved yours to 12000
@Dvorak, I've moved yours to 6000
Just bear in mind though that these may drop down again with the next delta reports, as we're still getting the ones in 500/1000 increments below what your profile is reporting.

Re: IP Profile - 88.2% method

Thanks JoJo, I'm synched at ~13Mb so I guess it might drop back to 11000. That's fine.
