Re: IP Profile - 88.2% method

The change seems to have gone okay for me. After over 30 days at a sync speed of 6951, the line underwent a resync at around midnight to 7243 and BT Speedtester is now reporting a profile of 6387 (was 6000). Plusnet still shows my speed as 6000 at the moment, but it's early days.
Hopefully this means that in future we should all be able to recover faster from a low speed synch event -  unless of course the DLM still responds by raising the target SNR?

Hi podman
Are you using the test socket, or extension socket/cable?

Re: IP Profile - 88.2% method

Hi Trevor
I have changed the profile on our side to 6500 to allow for the increased IP profile from your speed test.

Re: IP Profile - 88.2% method

Thanks Jojo. So far the error counts if anything seem slightly lower since the resynch so the 7243kb/s rate should hopefully be stable.

Re: IP Profile - 88.2% method

Think my move over to 21CN ADSL1 happened yesterday. My sync rate "shot up" from usual 1.5mb to over 2.3mb ( very long line). BT speedtester been showing profile of 2060 since early last night. PNet profile still showing as my usual 1.25mb. Was hoping Jojo, or whoever's around, could give the PN profile a nudge. Wasn't expecting much of an improvement with the 21CN move because of line length, but if it stays as it is it will be a huge improvement for me as never had profile higher than 1.25mb.
BT speedtest result:

  Test1 comprises of two tests
1. Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
Download  Speed
1113 Kbps

0 Kbps 2000 Kbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 1113 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 800-2000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :2336 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 384 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2060 Kbps
2. Upstream Test:  -provides background information.
Upload Speed
314 Kbps

0 Kbps 384 Kbps
Max Achievable Speed
>Upload speed achieved during the test was - 314 Kbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 384 Kbps

Notes:
The Download Speed is the average rate that was achieved during this test.

Notes:
Your line is configured to the maximum rate that it can support or at your chosen fixed rate, this is known as the line rate and would be viewed through your CPE software or in your router configuration.
Your IP profile is always less than the line rate and is normal on any network.
The Upstream Test rate figure quoted will always be smaller than the assured rate profile. This is because in order for the throughput to reach its destination, it requires an overhead which explains the difference between the two.

Notes:
If your download speed lies in this range then your connection seems to be working fine.

Notes:

I hope the profile can be nudged up to match BT's so I can reboot router if necessary.
Many thanks.

Re: IP Profile - 88.2% method

Something is a bit adrift - your upstream sync is low - can you post your router stats
P.S. It would help if you removed some of the blank lines in your post then I would be able to read it without needing to scroll  Embarrassed

Re: IP Profile - 88.2% method

Thanks Jojo  & Oldjim. Have done resync, slightly lower downstream 2304kbps but upstream now 448kbps. Noise margin 6.6 down 8.0 up. Just tested my "lightning fast" new download speed, nearly double what was used to. These people up in the double figs don't know how lucky they are. Hopefully things will stay stable. Been a lot of BT activity re FTTC here, new cabinets (inc mine!).  Smiley

Hi podman,
Probably best to keep things together on the other thread.
