I think I am going to turn my router off overnight - every night

Since the weather changed my noise margin drops from about 6dB at resync to about 4dB after  one night (due to bit swapping not not re-enabling the tones which dropped out) and then  to under 2dB at subsequent nights.
The result is that the line sometimes resyncs with a speed of about 3700kbps instead of just over 4Mbps
So if I disconnect the router when I retire for the night and reconnect it in the morning (using the connect/disconnect option on the router before/after unplugging the connection to the phone line) will this have any effects on the DLM system in the exchange

The risk is if there's extra noise in the morning at the moment you connect you could get a slower sync than normal.

There never is
I can tell when it has happened as the noise margin in the Routerstats icon shows a noise margin over over 8dB and I then do a manual resync.
This wouldn't be a problem except the Plusnet profile can sometimes pick up the low sync and then I have 3 days of slow speeds

That's just the DLM issue I was worried about.

It may not be as bad on my connection as it is ADSL1 on 21CN as ADSL2 was too unstable

because it takes that long for the Plusnet profile to catch up

if its that twitchy with changes in the weather surely that would indicate a line fault like a hi-res joint, leaky junction or something worse like an underground pipe being depressurized and leaking...
if your wires are all overhead then certainly it would point to some part of it suffering from undue degradation, I know a few people with similar problems but there all down to damaged cables (where some chimp though he could get a few bob for scrap) but not so bad as to have forced BT to replace them immediately....

Unfortunately it is just a rubbish line back to the exchange and they are all as bad as each other but not bad enough for BT to replace the three main feeders from the exchange top the cab
I had a very competent engineer check the whole thing to sort out a problem with the line disconnecting occasionally when the phone rang

We could just put you onto an Unbanded Profile so it doesn't band you, regardless of the amount of times you switch off your router?

21CN ADSL1 doesn't get banded the worry was that it might increase my default noise margin
