I can access all websites except one - Repeat Prescriptions Health Care

Hi,

Posting on behalf of an elderly friend.

She uses an online repeat prescriptions/appointment booking from her local health centre, which has a link to

https://systmonline.tpp-uk.com

(her's has a unique linkID on the end or the url, but i'm trying to keep it simple here!)

However, on both chrome and IE (i know!), it times out.

I've tried the plusnet router off/on to no avail. She can visit all other sites fine.

Weirdly when i use my mobile phone on the mobile phone network, i can visit the site above just fine.

If I connect my mobile phone to her wifi (with my phone), then it fails (times out) too, I feel this rules out a problem with her laptop itself.

If I visit various (is your website down) type sites, they say the website is down:

eg

http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/systmonline.tpp-uk.com.html

I do notice that the tpp-uk.com site say's it's only accessible from the UK, so that could be why the (is it down) sites say it's down. As http://isitdown.co.uk/ says the site is working fine.

At my home it works fine (also plusnet).

Please can anyone help/shed some light/ can you visit the site?

It works for me. It could be that there's confusion as to whether the IP address currently being used is in the UK. You could try switching the router off for half an hour or so. Hopefully when you switch back on a different IP address will be picked up.

into the browser address bar and post the result please.  This should help confirm whether it is an IP address problem.

You say hers has a unique linkID on the end of the url.

Could that be the link after logging in?

Are you logging in then using the link?

I am assuming if you don't log in then you won't have access to that link.

Just an update to anyone that see's this posting in the future.

1)

I have instructed elderly friend to turn off the router. she turned it off for 4 hours, but it still cannot access the repeat prescription site.

@un2018  I'm on a fairly slow ADSL connection but when I click on the link in your post the log-in page appears with lightening speed, much faster than any other site.  It's very odd that only this site is causing your friend problems.

98% certain they lied and that the issue is down to then not updating their IP lookup tables!

I've just tried an experiment using the VPN built in to the Opera browser.

With the VPN off I can access https://systmonline.tpp-uk.com/

If I turn the VPN on the site does not respond. (whatsmyip.org shows my location as being in Germany with the VPN on).

I'm now 100% certain that the problem is totally down to systmonline using out of date information to map the IP to location.

Edit: I suggest you contact them again and ask them when they last updated their IP location data.

An update:

Today my elderly friend is delighted that she can now access the site in question.
So (probably) thanks to matthew wheeler for sorting it out.

i am awaiting a reply\pm to see if he can shed some light on what the issue was.

I will fill out their enquiry form, and point them to this forum thread, hopefully they may look into it. maybe it's the "update ip location data".
