I bought a Hudl... and can't connect it!

Hi all
Brought it home last night all shiny and new. Now it's covered with increasingly angry fingermarks. When I put in the password (have tried the obvious one, very carefully, as on the bottom of the router, plus anything else that might be construed as a 'password'), it then tells me it's 'authenticating'. This goes on for some time until (if you're lucky) it says 'authentication failed'. Router is a Thompson Gateway and I've had no problems in the past getting laptops online.
Who should I blame? Router? PlusNet? Tesco? or me?

Just out of interest which Wi-Fi channel are you using as some devices don't use the high numbered ones e.g. 12, 13 and 14.

Hi Heather 1
Let me know if the below link is helpful from Tesco Tech Support

I am sure you have followed the instructions for connecting your Hudl to a network, but just in case, instructions are below.
How do I connect my Hudl to the Internet?
Tap 'All Apps' and go to 'Settings'.
Under 'Wireless and Networks' select 'Wi-Fi'.
Ensure the Wi-Fi slider is set to 'ON', the device will automatically scan for nearby networks.
Select your home network from the list.
Enter your password.
Tap 'Connect'
Your device will then connect to your network.
Your details will be remembered, and your Hudl will automatically connect to that network whenever you are in range.

The password you should be entering is the one in the LARGE box titled Wireless network, the pasword is under the SSID and called Key: you need to enter as it is there in upper and lower case. No spaces.

Re: I bought a Hudl... and can't connect it!

Hi all, thanks for the advice, much appreciated. Mr Chips, the tech support link did the trick, I tried option 3 - had tried the 'turn off-turn on' strategy at the start but the magic ingredient was clicking 'forget'. Thank you. (Problem now is that it won't move from the 'select wi-fi' screen, but unless anyone has a bright idea that doesn't involve slinging it out of the window, I'll try the tech support people on that.)

Press the large home button at the bottom, looks like a house/envelope.

All sorted. It needed a complete reset. The Tesco tech support guy comes highly recommended.
