Any way to do this without using a proxy/vpn? If so how?

I would recommend powering off your router off for 5 or 10 minutes and then reconnect to attempt to connect through a different gateway to see if this resolves your issue."
I did that for both the router and VDSL modem and it is still routing via Proxad.
