How to replace router?

Sorry if this is a real noob question but I don't really know much about networking and I haven't been able to find the answer from here or from the support site.
I want to replace the Technicolor router that came with my fibre connection with a gigiabit wifi router, probably the R6250. How do I actually go about doing this? Do I just plug the OpenReach modem into the router by the ethernet cable and I'm away or is there anything else I need to be aware of?
Just want to make sure my bases are covered before I take the plunge!

I was looking to get the Netgear R6250: http://www.netgear.co.uk/home/products/networking/wifi-routers/R6250.aspx

Re: How to replace router?

All you'll need to do is connect the router up to the Openreach Modem as your current router is already.
When you go through the router setup, a couple of important things you'll need:
Username and Password to authenticate your account details through your new router.
The username will be:
Username: username@plusdsl.net - the first part of this would be the account username you use to log into your Member Centre
Password: Your Plusnet account password
I hope this helps Smiley
