How to prioritize Gaming over Streaming?

How can I prioritize gaming over Streaming
I play games on my PC (currently Dota 2 via steam) which is connected via Ethernet cable, but the streaming of Netflix seems to take priority which is connected via wireless on our bluray player.
tried looking for QoS ont he router to add my MAC address, but no luck, seems to be hidden by the firmware

This is how to configure IPQoS on the Technicolor router, but I'm not sure it will achieve what you're after.

So yea, this didn't work.
How do i play games and stream movies at the same time. we have a 7MB connection & it's 2015 this should be more than viable.
Would upgrading the router help / fitting a switch at all?

You need to maximise the available upload and download ADSL bandwidth, and then make best use of what you've got.

There are other more effective things to try first -

  • If you are watching Netflix in HD, change the settings to SD
        -  as that with nearly halve the bandwidth required.

  • Plug your modem into the master phone socket and fit a filtered faceplate
        -  for the best internet speeds.

  • If you are on 20CN ADSL, consider upgrading to "Max Premium"
        -  for uncapped upload speed and increased priority traffic across the BT network.

  • If you are on 21CN ADSL2, ensure your internet UPLOAD sync speed is uncapped
        -  to ensure that your UPLOAD speed is maximised.

  • Ensure that you DON'T have the "Plusnet Pro" (£5/month) add-on enabled
        -  as that effectively disables Plusnet's traffic prioritisation management for video streaming and gaming.

If you're on 20CN I'd love to know if you got this resolved, as I have the same issue, also with a circa 7Mbps upload.
