Re: How to keep interleaving off?

Pfff - if only I had a router that gave me that info.  Its a belkin Wireless N - barely tells me when its connected.
All I know is that my ping gets me shot in the face a lot when playing COD.  Im 35 years old and still play video games, I need all the help I can get, so a high ping doesnt help me beat these spotty teenagers.  Grin
Hope it can be switched off for good.

Re: How to keep interleaving off?

@Chesterfield
Interleaving is currently on albeit at the lowest level, I can place an order to turn this off if you wish although it wouldn't complete until Monday now.
just to add, it seems there's an order going through which is due to complete on the 31st that will hopefully remove interleaving for you.

Re: How to keep interleaving off?

There was an order on my line for something last time I wanted interleaving off - yet ive not requested anything other than interleaving off in the last six months or more.  There shouldnt be any oreders on my line for anything, I just want interleaving off.  Thats it.  (until fibre gets here).

Re: How to keep interleaving off?

Looking further into the order, it seems that an automated order has been placed on your line although this is no actually going to modify anything, it looks like this was the same last time too. This was placed by our systems and I'll take a closer look not that this is affecting your connection.
I'll cancel this one off and get the order to turn interleaving off, probably won't be until Wednesday when interleaving is off.

Re: How to keep interleaving off?

Can you see if this is now off?  Pings still seem a little high to me.  Circa 40ms on ping test.

Re: How to keep interleaving off?

Interesting mine is back on again, I have requested it turned off on at least two occasions previously.

Re: How to keep interleaving off?

@zpeterk
I've placed an order for it to be removed again and I've changed some back end settings so that this shouldn't be enabled again.
@chesterfield
A ping of 40ms is actually really very good, I doubt you'd notice much of a difference between 20ms and 40ms. Interleaving is switched off on your line and that hasn't changed. I've made the same back end changes to ensure this does not get out on again.

Re: How to keep interleaving off?

40ms is distinctly awful compared to the 14-17 I used to get, and certainly spoils the fun in any first person shooters when Im that far behind others.
Is there any particular reason why tests to pingtest.net should show 40ms+ when they used to show 14-17?   Same router, same line, same ISP.  No changes my end.

Just seen this in another thread from a user - average latency below 20ms...

Re: How to keep interleaving off?

There are a number of factors that will affect your latency including speed of your connection (both up and down), distance from the exchange, distance from London and interleaving.
I'm on 20CN less than a mile from the exchange, around 100 miles from London, 8192 down, 832 up (on Max Premium which also gives higher priority on the BT network), interleaving off.

Looking at my SamKnows monitoring stats it is currently showing around 18.5ms. When I lived in Sussex it was under 12ms.

Re: How to keep interleaving off?

@chesterfield  - what sort of ping do you get from a command prompt? I'm on Fastpath, live over 600 miles from London, am about 1.5Km from my exchange, and this is my ping to the BBC:
[tt]ping bbc.co.uk
Pinging bbc.co.uk [212.58.251.195] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 212.58.251.195: bytes=32 time=26ms TTL=118

Reply from 212.58.251.195: bytes=32 time=26ms TTL=118
Ping statistics for 212.58.251.195:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:

Re: How to keep interleaving off?

Will check the bbc ping when at home later.
How can I set one of these samknows monitoring thingys up then?  Ill have a look on the samknows site.
All I know is that on wired ocnnections, I used to get 14-17ms pings on pingtest.net.  Now its up around 40.

@Jaggies
What's you sync speeds up and down and how far are you from the exchange?
