How to get my 582 Router to remember username and password

Hi,
Just what the topic says. I'm using Google Chrome and it won't remember my password whenever I try to login to the router. It offers me the option to choose my username but it won't enter the password. It this something to do with the router's security and can I do something about it.
No big problem but it just bugs me. All other websites it remembers the details except this  Smiley
Thanks for the help

Re: How to get my 582 Router to remember username and password

Not just what the topic says.  The problem lies with Google Chrome, nothing to do with the router.
In Chrome I would try Customise and Control > Settings > Show Advanced Settings
Then under Passwords and Forms click Managed Saved Passwords.  Check the Saved and Never Saved lists for the router IP address (192.168.1.254).
(As Spraxyt suggested whilst I was adding to my original reply).

Re: How to get my 582 Router to remember username and password

Does Chrome have more than one saved entry for the router IP 192.168.1.254 so that it doesn't know which one to supply? Chrome on Vista remembers and fills in my username and password for a TG585v8, don't see why this functionality should be router-model specific.

Re: How to get my 582 Router to remember username and password

From what I've read the TG582n uses temporary session cookies for logins so it can't be cookied, as they timeout after 10 minutes or so.

You could try the Maxthon browser - it certainly remembers the Username & Password of the 582 router - I run it here!

Re: How to get my 582 Router to remember username and password

Thanks for all the replies. I've checked the Manage my passwords and there is no mention, even once, of 192.168.1.254. I also don't want to try or use Firefox or Maxthon and don't even think about IE :), I prefer to use Chrome. Gus might be right about temporary session cookies. I don't know anything about that, that's why I asked here.

Re: How to get my 582 Router to remember username and password

So the 'Offer to save passwords I enter on the web' option in Advanced settings should be ticked and 192.168.1.254 should NOT be in the 'Never Saved' list.  In which case you ought to be prompted to save the user name and password when you log on to you router and thereafter these entries should be filled in automatically.
I'm not really clear about what does not happen.  Are you not prompted to save your password?  Or is the password not remembered after you opt to save?  Or can you not log on to your router whether or not the password is remembered?

Re: How to get my 582 Router to remember username and password

I don't normally use Chrome. However, I opened it, opened settings, advanced & ticked "Offer to save passwords I enter on the web".
I logged onto my Asus router as normal & the drop down window appeared offering to save the password. It's working fine for me. Try removing Chrome & reloading it.

Re: How to get my 582 Router to remember username and password

I just reloaded Chrome and still nothing. I guess I will just have to live with it. It's no big deal anyway. I guess it makes my router more secure if I have to type in my password all the time:) Thanks for the help.
