I am unable to display the router home page by using URL : http://192.168.1.254.
I am connected through a network cable to the router. I am able to ping the router IP successfully & connect to the Internet world without any issue but unable to get the router home page.
Any help or advise will be greatly appreciated as I will be moving home soon and will need to bring up the router page to configure the router again.
Thanks

Can you browse to the router's home page if you temporarily disable your PC's firewall ?
If you are browsing using Internet Explorer, can you try using Firefox ? (or vice-versa).

If you are keeping the same account name, then the router should just plug in and work at your new home WITHOUT needing to reconfigure - although not an ideal situation !

Yes it is a thomson router.
I have tried in both IE & FF by using http://192.168.1.254 but I only get a page not found.
I have disabled the Client Firewall & tried but still no luck.
Not sure what the problem is.
Thanks

Can you try browsing to http://dsldevice.lan? This is the DNS entry the router creates for itself and will change automatically if the IP address is different.

I have tried the above but still no luck.
I also noticed another thing.
When I try to ping yahoo.com, it takes ages for a reply to come back & also takes a long time to load the page
When I ping in http://192.168.1.254, the reply is quick but it wont load on the browser.

and then enter at the prompt -
> ipconfig
What IP address do you get for the "Default Gateway" ?, if it is NOT [192.168.1.254] then try browsing with the displayed value instead.

If no other PC is available, then try downloading Ubuntu desktop, burning either a CD or USB stick, then booting your PC to the CD or USB stick, select that you want to try the live version (i.e. not the install option), it will take a few minutes to get going, but then you will be able to open Firefox and try browsing your router - without the potential Windows junk that might be blocking access !.
For Ubuntu downloads start here http://www.ubuntu.com/download, select "Try it from a CD or USB stick", then in the "1. Download Ubuntu" section, choose the "Ubuntu 10.04 LTS" version and select the "32 bit" option, then follow the rest of the page on how to "Try It".

To clear it to factory defaults, press and hold the small recessed [RESET] button on the back of the router for at least ten seconds.
Obviously you will lose all your settings and will have to reconfigure it from scratch.
