That sounds about right. In my days with the Post Office/BT, ISTR that in round figures, there were about 600 'group switching centres' with an average of nine dependent exchanges within the group.

fractionally under 5600 odd Exchanges, of them very very approximately 1500 are market 3, 700 market 2, and the rest 3000+ market 1.
(There will be an ofcom document somewhere with the accurate figures)
Approx BT network figures suitably rounded
100000 PCP street cabinets
5 million joint boxes and 5 million distribution points
just over 30 million land lines

If you can believe some statistics then TalkTalk have unbundled at least 2208 of them ....... but not mine

TalkTalk haven't unbundle any exchanges only Openreach can unbundle exchanges.
