How many errors is too many?

Evening gents,
Checking over line stats for my FTTC connection and I noticed this;
Total time = 39 min 9 sec
FEC: 99398 10
CRC: 18 2
ES:        6        2
SES: 0 0
UAS: 18 18
LOS: 0 0
LOF: 0 0
Seems like a lot of FEC errors for the uptime, can anyone advise if I should be worried?
DLM has of course applied interleaving: Interleave depth:      1146
Other stats;
Status: Showtime
Retrain Reason: 0
Max: Upstream rate = 7765 Kbps, Downstream rate = 45072 Kbps
Path: 0, Upstream rate = 7198 Kbps, Downstream rate = 39088 Kbps
Link Power State: L0
Mode: VDSL2 Annex B
VDSL2 Profile: Profile 17a
TPS-TC: PTM Mode
Trellis: U:ON /D:ON
Line Status: No Defect
Training Status: Showtime
Down Up
SNR (dB):5.7     6.1
Attn(dB): 0.0    0.0
Pwr(dBm): 12.0    3.1

Thanks  Wink
EDIT: Pulled Attn stats from telnet too

Re: How many errors is too many?

see http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/linestats_errors.htm
high fec errors with interleaving turned on is normal (it shows it's working apparently).
when i got interleaving turned off the fec errors dropped drastically.

Re: How many errors is too many?

Cheers chenks that makes sense then, attenuation looks a bit high too, but I'm sure sure which one I should be looking at or why there is 3...

Re: How many errors is too many?

first question... why has DLM activated?
have you had line problems?

Re: How many errors is too many?

ES - Errored Seconds
SES - Serious Errored Seconds
These are the two to keep an eye on as DLM is based on them (as well as retrains).

Re: How many errors is too many?

Well other than being on an alum line, which is totally killing what sync I can get, OR guy was here he said he was getting 58/20 at the joint box at the end of my street, but max at my property is 43/6, and he said it was due to the alum line which they won't do anything about.
So I guess it's just down to the crappy quality line I'm on Sad DLM seems to be kicking in because of the errors on the line but OR say it's not enough errors to fail / worry about, but if that is the case then why is DLM stepping in....
Cheers Andy I'll keep an eye out for those too

From the snippet of stats you provided, the line looks fine, but its only been up for 40 mins, so it may not show the full picture.  Its not unusual for some lines to be more problematic at certain times of the day particularly evenings when the SNRm begins to drop.    As already mentioned by AndyH  the ones to worry about are ES & SES.  Perhaps grab a copy of DSLstats or HG612 modem_stats (or both!) to monitor whats going on over the course of a day.

Thats because VDSL uses different bands of frequencies.  You can see the different frequency bands in my screen grab I'll attach below.
Attenuation is reported separately for each of different bands.  Its quite normal (and expected) for the attenuation to increase as the frequency bands get higher.

Re: How many errors is too many?

Thanks for the explaination kitz, I'll post full stats tonight when I get home, should have around 24 hours worth by then, I'm actually using DSLstats to pull the stats through telnet it's a very nice application

Re: How many errors is too many?

Full stats, anyone see anything wrong? Looks like DLM has reduced the interleaving depth which is good (629 from 1146)
Also looks like DLM resynced me a few hours ago, looks like it's resynced me at a slightly higher down / upstream, which is weirdly higher than the max attainable  Huh
