How long for 135kbps?

I had a problem with connecting yesterday and today I get home to find I've dropped to 135kbps. How long must I sit and wait to go back up, if ever?

Re: How long for 135kbps?

3 or 4 days... but could be longer if it gets stuck (Plusnet don't get or fail to process the IP change from BT).

Re: How long for 135kbps?

I noticed yesterday during the problem that there were loads of errors. I checked just now and they are still there but the exact same amount.
I rebooted my router just now and after connecting I get this:
Link Information
Uptime: 0 days, 0:00:45
DSL Type: G.992.3 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 443 / 2,387
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]: 0.00 / 0.00
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.5 / 0.0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 35.5 / 55.5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 16.0 / 12.5
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / IFTN
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 4,294,967,264 / 0
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 4,294,967,264 / 3
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 1
That seems like a huge number of errors, but only happens on connection and doesn't seem to increase.

Re: How long for 135kbps?

Here's another capture 4 minutes later:
Link Information
Uptime: 0 days, 0:05:19
DSL Type: G.992.3 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 443 / 2,387
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]: 0.00 / 0.00
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.5 / 0.0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 35.5 / 55.5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 16.5 / 13.0
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / IFTN
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 4,294,967,264 / 0
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 4,294,967,264 / 10
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 7
So 4 billion errors in less than 40 seconds but 0 in 4 minutes.

Well that will have delayed you getting your normal speeds back! Sad
Leave it on 24x7 and don't reboot it.

Re: How long for 135kbps?

Yeah, I realised that but wanted to check those error numbers. Here's some more:
Uptime: 0 days, 0:22:06
DSL Type: G.992.3 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 443 / 2,387
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]: 0.00 / 0.00
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.5 / 0.0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 35.5 / 55.5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 17.0 / 13.0
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / IFTN
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 1 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 4,294,967,264 / 0
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 4,294,967,264 / 94
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 59
So still barely a change 20 minutes later but huuuuugggee amounts on connection.

Re: How long for 135kbps?

That number looks too close to this one: 4294967296, which is 2^32. Almost as if it's a software problem rather than actual errors.

Re: How long for 135kbps?

Same number of errors here http://community.plus.net/forum/?topic=86694.msg720147
and on other forums I've found in a google search. Looks to me like an error code of some sort.

Re: How long for 135kbps?

The IP Profile says 135, so why am I only getting 40 odd?

Re: How long for 135kbps?

Hi jayed,
Are you using extension cables/sockets at all? If you plug into the test socket? Let me know so I can run some checks for you.

Re: How long for 135kbps?

Hi, won't disconnecting to do this make me have to wait longer to get my profile back up?

Re: How long for 135kbps?

Not if you disconnect via the router's interface before unplugging - that way the exchange records it as a requested disconnect, rather than forced.
Hope that helps,

And make sure you don't end up disconnecting/reconnecting more than once. If you do find the need to do a second one delay it for at least an hour.

Re: How long for 135kbps?

Ok. I'll have to do it when I get home in about an hour. Is it ok to it then?

Re: How long for 135kbps?

Hi jayed,
Definitely do that. I'll try to test that later form home and see what steps we should take next.
