How long after activation will my FTTC speeds increase?

Just wondering if anyone could tell me (from experience not from what you've heard or been told) how long after activation will FTTC broadband speed start to increase?
I am on up to 76mbps FTTC with estimated speeds of around 65mbps. It was activated today after moving house 2 months ago and I am getting speeds of around 20mbps today, when I was on the same plan in my previous property I would always get around 33mbps which in my opinion is not good enough for what I should be getting so I'm hoping it increases more than that.
The reason I ask you to answer from experience only is because I know that we're told that the speed will increase within the first 10 days but from word of mouth and previous experience my speed has never changed from the day of activation.
Thank You

What does https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=stable_rate say for your current line speed? It should be the same as the IP profile reported by the BT speed test.

Re: How long after activation will my FTTC speeds increase?

Estimated line speed:
65Mb (Accurate to within +/- 1Mbit) - Checked on 2012-08-14 18:46:55
Current line speed:
78 Mb
BT Speedtest currently shows me speeds varying from 2mbps to 29mbps. (Most often getting a result under 10mbps, the 29 result was show only once)
P.S.  I did disable everything that uses the internet before I did the test.

Re: How long after activation will my FTTC speeds increase?

We don't need the achieved speed from the BT speed test, we need the IP profile as reported by the diagnostic test.

Re: How long after activation will my FTTC speeds increase?

IP Profile showing as 38.72 Mbps so is that the problem?
The upstream IP profile is 10 Mbps so that's correct.

Re: How long after activation will my FTTC speeds increase?

When you signed up were you given a speed estimate for Fibre? As I've just done one for your line and the downstream estimate is 37.7Mbps, due to that we'd have ordered the 40/10 variant rather than 80/20 (up to 76Mb), the upstream being at 10Mb would also suggest this.

Re: How long after activation will my FTTC speeds increase?

If you ordered 80/20 have we proof that he would experience slower speeds than he is getting on 40/10?
If not, what is the justification for ordering the slower variant other than it saves Plusnet money?

The justification is that the estimate is below 40Mb so we place the order at 40Mb. This should have been confirmed during the signup/account change process.
I'm happy to place an order to move to the faster product and see whether there is an improvement to be had though. (order placed)

Re: How long after activation will my FTTC speeds increase?

I'm surprised the threshold is 40, 30 or 35 I could understand as given the variability it's unlikely it would ever go over 40.
Perhaps seeing what happens in this case will guide future policy?

Re: How long after activation will my FTTC speeds increase?

According to a line test done by BT, my speeds should reach 65 Mbps. So please set my Plusnet at 80/20 like I ordered. Thank You.

Re: How long after activation will my FTTC speeds increase?

I've already placed the order to move you to the faster speeds as mentioned in my previous post. This should complete tomorrow.
Which linecheck was that on by the way? As the main BT one and ours both show 37.7Mb as your estimate.

Re: How long after activation will my FTTC speeds increase?

Chris: Take a look at reply 2 which suggests the PN estimate used to be 65Mb.

Re: How long after activation will my FTTC speeds increase?

Strange, that isn't what is currently showing for me here and not what a linecheck reports either.

Re: How long after activation will my FTTC speeds increase?

Thank You.
BT line check (can't remember the web address for it) did show me 65 and Plusnet also told me in an email that it is estimated at 65 so it cannot be wrong.
Here is what it says on my Plusnet account (See Attachment)

Re: How long after activation will my FTTC speeds increase?

Hi Chris.
Could you please reset my IP profile. BT said that is the problem with my speed and to request an IP profile reset.
Thank You
