House move+10 day training

After finally finding out that my *master* socket wasn`t and that the master is actually a old style junction box with a mini nte5 next to it,i have my phone+bb up `n` running!
Now,granted i have only just started my 10 day training period,so fully expect things to go up and down over the next week, but these are the current stats.....
Uptime: 0 days, 2:22:57
DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A
Maximum Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,296 / 18,588
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 445 / 18,471
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 23.79 / 308.19
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 11.0 / 16.0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 7.5 / 9.5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 32.5 / 6.5
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / IFTN
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 0
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 41
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 170
Now.the thing that caught my eye was the low downstream attenuation (being less than 300 meters from the exchange i knew it was gonna be kinda low, lol).
Once the DLM has had it`s way with my line, should i expect the sync to rise or will i have to slum it with 18,471?
Thanks.

Re: House move+10 day training

You should ask for your upstream to be uncapped
Your noise margin should drop to 3dB and you will get even more speed

Re: House move+10 day training

Did ask for the upload to be uncapped, but got told to wait for the 10 days to finish, although the cs on the phone earlier was quite helpful tho overall. Smiley
How does having the upload uncapped increase the dl tho jim?

Re: House move+10 day training

It doesn't - there are two different things
The drop in default noise margin is automatic - if it happens - and is done by the equipment in the exchange possibly during the 10 day training period
Uncapping upload just gives you better upload speeds and the phone response is rubbish as it can be done immediately. Most ISP's don't cap it at all - this is a Plusnet foible and there has never been a really convincing reason why they do it

Re: House move+10 day training

Ah,so the downstream att being only 9db will allow the downstream noise margin to (hopefully) drop and remain stable @ 3db giving the extra speed if the DLM plays ball?
Guess time`ll tell.....i`ll bump this in the morning for one of the team to get the upstream uncapped tho, thanks Jim. Smiley

Things ok so far, just a bump for the team to see if they can arrange for my upload to be uncapped. Smiley

Re: House move+10 day training

Hi there,
I've placed an order to uncap your upload, this will complete tomorrow for you. Regarding your download it is best to wait for the 10 training period to see what the DLM is set at and we can then take a look from there.

Re: House move+10 day training

Well, the upstream uncap happened quickly going by the sync rates in the stats you post Smiley Hope it settles at a good speed for you and that the increased upstream helps.

Drat. Apparently so. I don't appear to be able to read the word 'Max'...
Thanks Jim. Hope it's happened by now, at least...

Re: House move+10 day training

Would resetting the router around 2pm today to get the better sync (from 4am when the upload was uncapped the other day) hurt the 10 day DLM,or should i just leave it be till then?

Re: House move+10 day training

It would only be worth resetting if you see the downstream noise margin rise above 6.
