High Usage

I just got an email from Plusnet telling me I'd exceeded my monthly usage allowance by 2Gb.  On checking, apparently I've used 3.91Gb today in about 5 hours!!  The one different thing I've done is update to Windows 8.1 - could this really account for that much usage?  I'm confused - lol.  Any help would be appreciated.  Shocked

Re: High Usage

Windows updates can use large amounts of data - especially if it fails and has to try again.
Found on another site, they reckon around 3.5Gb

Re: High Usage

Well that would explain it.  Thanks so much for your help - Windows 8.1 just cost me a fiver.  You live and learn!

Re: High Usage

You might want to see if moving to unlimited may be of benefit. Yes you'd normally have to enter into a new contract but with some keen prices at the moment you might find it is not a lot more ££ a month (sometimes less for some people) and you won't have to worry about monitoring your usage.
