I recently upgraded to the Unlimited package. This morning I noticed that the usage overnight last night was around 75MB. Any ideas what is happening? The figures were much lower (approx. 150KB) when I was on Plusnet Extra. Many thanks.

I've checked your usage and can see nothing out of the ordinary, I've posted a graph of your usage and the times it was used.

Does that fit in with any usage that's been used?

Hi there
I don't remember downloading 31MB worth of data between 5-6am. But maybe my other devices were doing automatic updates as suggested by Dan. I'll monitor the usage tonight and report back with unusual activities. Thanks both for quick reply.

As of now, my usage overnight is around 90MB. This is quite odd as I only downloaded a couple of large files of around 30MB in size since I woke up at 4am. The overnight usage figure two days ago was only around 460KB. This is rather puzzling.
Last week I received an email from Plusnet letting me know that the interleaving would be turned off. (I have no idea what that is.) But could that be the cause of high overnight usage? My router security is WPA-Personal ( PSK ) with a strong password and so I don't think someone has been piggybacking.
Although I am on Unlimitied and large usage shouldn't be a cause for concern, I am just puzzled (and curious).

If you're still seeing it and you're certain it's not you then the next step would be to change your wireless password.

That's a really good tip, thank you.
I think I know what have possibly caused high overnight usage: Thunderbird. I switched from Outlook to Thunderbird a few weeks ago and have since seen my usage go up. Any Thunderbird users out there experiencing the same problem?

In that case Thunderbird uses the IMAP folders to store drafts and sent items whereas Outlook uses local folders. This is normally significant only when attachments are used. However you would have to be writing and sending messages for this to come into play.
