High Ping

In recent weeks I've started experiencing latency problems playing online games. Ping spikes every couple of minutes. I'm genuinely baffled why this has suddenly become an issue. I've reinstalled Windows 10 and I'm still having these issues. I moved to my current address a year ago and I've only started experiencing these problems. Can anyone help?

Re: High Ping

Hey @floorswine,

Thanks for getting in touch with us.

I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble with the latency/ping on our service.

I have tested your broadband & phone line, you are currently in sync at 42.9 Mbps down and 7.9 Mbps up with no external faults showing. Are you connected via a wired or wireless connection? Can you run through our troubleshooting guides here.

If that doesn't help, the next thing would be to rule your internal wiring out by plugging the connection into your test socket (which is under the faceplate of your master socket) and seeing if the drops stop.

This rules out your internal wiring, face plates and extension sockets as being the cause of these drops.

How to locate the test socket and set your connection into it can be found here.

If the problem still persists, please can you raise a fault here  and let us know once this has been done?

Thank you.
