Help!!

1st post.
Now been signed up since Nov 5th and my download speed has never been greater than 1.7 mb  Sad  I was told it would be 7mb and vary  between 4.75 and 11 so why have I not been any ware near this?
I had logged a ticket on Saturday no reply yet, Gave up on phone as told 30 min plus waiting time so thought I would register in the hope that answer may follow quicker.
Also what is Technicolor TG582n ? have never been able to log in as it will not accept user name and password.
All in all not a good start.
Regards

Re: Help!!

Your line is dropping a lot and is much slower than I'd expect. Can you make sure that your router is plugged into the master (test socket if possible) through a single filter and that all other sockets in use have a filter in place?

Re: Help!!

To log into the router use the details given on the plastic card you received with the router under  Router Access
Having done that can you post the information requested here http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,96155.0.html
If you have lost the card the login should be
User: admin
Password; Router Serial Number
Note that they are case sensitive

Did that on Saturday but still the same, I will add that we have 10 sockets  throughout our Flat  but only 1 is used all the time.

Re: Help!!

10 sockets sounds nasty and may be part of the problem
If you plug into the test socket - see http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,96155.0.html - are all the other sockets dead.
Is there any noise on the line - dial 17070 Option 2 - and is that there when using the test socket

Re: Help!!

You are looking at the Wireless Network access
What you want is the Router Access underneath it

What I am looking at is the  Your Wi-Fi setup detail card that was supplied and that is what I assumed you asked for in your 1st reply.
What I am now looking at under my router are the same details as for card but an additional  PASSWORD SN & ROUTER PASSWORD STARTING WITH CP is this the one I have to enter?

UPDATE,
Just managed to register the router as for your instruction (under admin), Would have been a lot easier if they just simply would have printed the router password on the same card!!
Where do I go from here?

Re: Help!!

They do on my card
Once in go to
Broadband Connection
DSL Connection
Details (top left)
or go to http://192.168.1.254/cgi/b/dsl/dt/?be=0&l0=2&l1=0 to get straight there
We want this bit
Uptime: 27 days, 3:34:23
DSL Type: ITU-T G.992.3
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 888 / 3,894
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [GB/GB]: 2.17 / 20.98
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.8 / 0.0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 26.8 / 50.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 9.3 / 6.1
When in the test socket can you confirm that all the other sockets are dead - connect a phone via a filter to check for a dial tone
Also when using any of the other sockets are you always using a filter

Re: Help!!

Better but horrible - you should be getting much better speeds than that
Can you please do the following as previously requested
Connect the router to the test socket
Check all the other extensions are dead
Report the full stats again
