Help please ;(

For the first time since being with Plusnet I plugged a land line in to save myself being charged for waiting 15 minutes on hold to a customer support center.
I plugged the phone in the master socket and it caused my DSL to drop out "as that was in the living room extension."
This is the result:
Link Information

Uptime: 0 days, 0:05:53

DSL Type: G.992.1 annex A

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 160

Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]: 0.00 / 0.00

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 13.0

Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 29.0 / 50.0

SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 17.0 / 20.5

Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / TSTC

Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 11 / 0

Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 6 / 0

Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0

Loss of Link (Remote): 0

Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 2 / 0

FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 0

CRC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 0

HEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 0
My speed has never been "great" but at least 20 times better than this.
Can someone reset SN margin or something for me please, as browsing the web is near impossible and gaming is a definate no-no at the moment Smiley
Thanks alot
TJ

Re: Help please ;(

Morning TJ.
Your underlying problem right now will be that the IP Profile has dropped in line with your connection speed, which is this bit:
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 160
Could you possibly unplug the telephone that you have mentioned and then reboot your router and show me what the router stats then look like?

Re: Help please ;(

That's great.
It looks like there might be a problem with your extension socket causing interference, so that when you plug in your telephone (you need to make sure that you use a filter if you do that again) it causes your speeds to drop massively.
Your speeds should pick up again in the next day or so once BT have amended your IP Profile accordingly.

Re: Help please ;(

This is probably a very sily point - if it is please ignore it  Grin
When you say you plugged the telephone into the master socket you did plug the telephone in via a filter didn't you.
