TBB speedtest shows 2.53 Mbps BTW test 11/06 shows 3.17 I have had b4 then 3.98. Why the fall off, this has got worse over 3 mnths. I have also had numerous disconnects over the same period. Ticket No #87967626.

Re: Gradual slowdown

Can you please gather the information requested here - http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,96155.0.html
Is your phone line quiet - dial 17070 option 2.  Were those speed tests wired or over wireless?

Re: Gradual slowdown

Is your router plugged into the master socket?
Can you try a new filter.  Synch rate is very low for this line.  If you are in the test socket, you should raise a fault report here - http://faults.plus.net

Re: Gradual slowdown

No test socket, tried three different new filters and made no difference .......if you read the OP, already reported.
Thanks

Re: Gradual slowdown

The Engineer sorted out the problem and my speed increased, and the engineer fitted a new style faceplate. Router stats below
                                  DNS           SNR                 Speed
                                             Down    Up        Down    UP

Tue 08 Jul 2014  17:49:01 30 6.1 5.2       7574   732
Tue 08 Jul 2014  17:50:01 29 6.3 5.3       7574   732

Which was great because I have never seen such speeds.
Since then it has been on a downward move
These are the router stats from today
Upime: 0 days, 1:38:02    DSL Type: ITU-T G.992.5

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 756 / 5.922

Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/GB]: 112,81 / 1,99

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12,2 / 20,0

Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 23,7 / 46,0

SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 5,7 / 12,6

System Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / ----

Chipset Vendor ID (Local/Remote): BDCM / TSTC

Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 18 / 0

Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 2 / 0

Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0

Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 50 / 0

FEC Errors (Up/Down): 3.517 / 616

CRC Errors (Up/Down): 6 / 3

HEC Errors (Up/Down): 17 / 106
I also notice the SNR has crept upto  SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 5,7 / 12,6 and thus a reduction in speed
Should this be happening?

Re: Gradual slowdown

The line still looks a little intermittent. We've got your response on Ticket: 87967626. We'll reply back once we've completed further tested on your line.

Re: Gradual slowdown

The response from ticket No 87967626 does not make sense, that the SNR has increased to 11.8dB because it is appropriate to the distance from the exchange. If that is the case then why did the openreach engineer specifically set it to 6dB and say that I will now get increased speeds. This is now getting silly why cannot the DNS be reduced to 6dB.

Two attachments first one showing speeds after openreach engineer visit with DNS set at 6dB

Re: Gradual slowdown

SNR doesn't specifically work based on distance (I'll feed that back).
If an engineer or Agent sets your SNR Target to 6db, this doesn't mean that your SNR will stay at 6db, the idea of SNR is that it fluctuates given the line conditions. For example, if there is a burst of noise on your line for some reason (say road works) the SNR will increase, this will keep the line stable for the time that the noise is on your line.
SNR adjusts itself to protect your connection from excessively dropping out due to high errors due to noise or other interference on your line. It looks to me that the agent in question has set your line to 'Amber' this means that your SNR Target will not ever move from 6db, however the SNR itself can still fluctuate, however the line will always aim, where possible to give you an sNR of 6db but this isn't guaranteed.
