Gone downhill the past 2 weeks

I use Face Time with the family alot and we had no problem until about 2 weeks ago getting poor connections.  What your guys think the problem is.
I done a speed test
Ping 34
Download 5.98mb
upload 27mb
That the best I can get where I am anywhere but never had a problem in the past till recently

I am guessing it would be 0.27mbits for upload not 27mbits or a form of kb which should be 2700
Hope i helped

Hi rookey,
I've taken a look at your line but can't see anything obvious that would cause you using Facetime to become a problem. Have you tried changing your Wireless Channel?

Re: Gone downhill the past 2 weeks

My up speed has also been better than my down speed (according to the speed testers) at peak time since I had fibre installed. However, it only seems to be web traffic that is slow, usenet still works at linespeed.

Re: Gone downhill the past 2 weeks

I'm assuming the speed test was done over wireless?
I've had higher upload readings than my line is capable of via wireless on an iMac (25Mb vs 15Mb).
Have you tried doing speed tests via an ethernet connection?

Re: Gone downhill the past 2 weeks

I have just changed my wireless channel to see if it makes any difference later when doing face time.  So I guess the channel can cause problems then
here the current results

Hi,
Thanks for getting back in touch regarding this.
What kind of issues are you seeing with FaceTime? Does it just not work at all or is it just breaking up?

Re: Gone downhill the past 2 weeks

It works yes but sometime it goes to black screen saying connecting during the face time session as in it lost data or slown down I just don't know.  But now I have changed the channel let see if this help.
But the router gets very hot so wonder if the router is faulty it one of yours I got and dont think it a year old yet.

Re: Gone downhill the past 2 weeks

Where is your router located? It is likely to get relatively warm but it does have quite a lot of ventilation, so it should be fine.
