I have experiencing constant disconnections on my broadband connection. As I type this, I have noticed that my connection is actually down again but I am hoping that it will come back again by the time I have finished...
I have already logged in a ticket for this but I accidently closed it. So when I tried to start a new ticket I have noticed that there is some fault due to maintenance from plusnets side and so I will have to wait into Sunday night/ Monday to relog the fault.
Anyway, it all started about a week ago. I have for the past 7 days been experiencing constant disconnections. Today has been particularly bad, clocking around 1 disconnection every 15 minutes. I am really fed up with this situation as I had the problem about 2 months ago but it just suddenly went away.
So far I have changed 3 routers, all cables, used a different power socket, but disconnections still occur. Before the disconnections started I had changed absolutely no hardware in the flat whatsoever. It just seems very random. Please help me...

You mention flat. I wonder if neighbours have been on holiday?

Quote from: SEPL So far 2 disconnections within 10 minutes.
Do you have a long telephone cable run?
Does the telephone cable run near any electronics?

Just recovered from yet another disconnection...
No, the telephone is not even connected. It is just the router connected to one of those filter sockets seperating the DSL and phone line. Router is literally next to the dsl socket.
Also, that is the only phone socket that is operational within the whole flat and has been totally fine for about 2-3 years now with Plusnet. No other devices are connected to any other phone socket either.
PS: Got another disc. that's 4 within half an hour.......

I can see you've logged a fault about this which was the right thing to do, just to answer the question you raised on there the speeds will have decreased due to DLM (dynamic line management) reducing the speed by changing the IP profile, that is a direct result of the connection problem and is designed to increase the speeds again after the dropping connection issue has been fixed.
Our faults team should be getting back to you with more info ASAP:

I've just made a few adjustments to your account, can you see how your speeds are performing now and let me know.

I've been having exactly the same problems as the opening poster starting about 2 weeks ago. One evening, my router (Netgear DG834) disconnected about 4 times in one hour. Terribly unreliable. The next day it didnt seem as bad, and since then seemed to have settled down a bit.
Last night when I got home from work about 7, the router was disconnected. I restarted it, it took ages to secure a link, then disconnected again. I tried this several times, sometimes managing to connect for only a few minutes at a time (at most) before the connection dropped again.
Losing my rag somewhat, I disconnected the Netgear thinking it may be at fault (although having never had trouble with it before) and plugged in the Thomson supplied by Plusnet. Exactly the same trouble - first off, it wouldn't connect. I powered it off and back on and it connected for a few minutes only, then disconnected while I was browsing; this carried on for most of the evening, maintaining a connection for only a few minutes at a time whilst browsing.
I should add, I was sitting next to the router plugged into the Ethernet port at this time, so the wireless is not at fault. I was getting nowhere so I turned off the laptop and gave up.
Later in the evening the problem seemed to go away - at half nine or so I was watching Netflix on my phone over the wireless connection and it seemed fine. This morning before work, I turned on my PC just to email one file and it worked fine. But I fear that tonight the problem might have returned.
I've had similar trouble a couple of months back, where for a few nights, the service was terrible unreliable, then it would revert to being fine for a few weeks. however, last night was the worst I have seen it, and it's very frustrating. I thought this might be a problem peculiar to my exchange but seeing a couple of threads like this, is this a wider issue?

Yes and no. Disconnections are down to some sort of fault on the line or equipment between your house and the telephone exchange. Such faults are quite common and there are some frequent causes but it's not a wider issue in the sense that it is related to Plusnet. With problems beyond your exchange you would experience slow or stalled internet whilst the actual connection remained up.

I've posted a log of your connections, there no pattern to your disconnections and in general your line appears very stable.

I'm going to suggest raising a fault at http://faults.plus.net and completing the diagnostic questions so we can investigate this further if needed.

Just posting to let you know that the connection seems very stable now. Also I am getting almost twice as much download speed as I used to, which is great.
What exactly was the problem?
Thank you very much for your help!
