Getting packet loss today

Hi jamman,
Had a bit of packet loss myself recently too, but I think there's something going on with my line which Plusnet are meant to be looking at, but this seems to be similar to what you're seeing

Which game?  As a few have been hit by a particularly heavy DDos in the last week. Warframe / Leagueoflegends and probably Blizzard as they are always target number one

I play League of Legends but wouldnt that just affect my connection to the game server rather than my whole connection which has been the case here?

No the DDos will just give the feeling of extreme lag or worse loosing connection when in game.  It won't affect your every day browsing unless the sites you view are using the same transit host as the game.
So best bet is to trace to the login servers for the game to see if there is packet loss
