Getting cut off.

Hi, i am on PAYG and only just started downloading at night to make use of the free downloads between 0001-0800.
My problem is that most mornings when i check the internet connection i have to reboot the router, because the internet has stopped downloading, only downloading 1gb instead on nearly 4gb if the internet does not crash.
I never used to have this problem when the router was on all the time, but was not downloading.

Re: Getting cut off.

Hi there,
Can I ask you a few questions?
- Does this happen during the day?
- Are you connected via a filter into your master socket?
- Have you tried changing your filter?
- Do you have any way of trying with a different modem or router?
- Does your router give you any error logs?

Re: Getting cut off.

Hi James,
It is very rare that i get cut off through the day, i am wire connected to my BT VOYAGER 2100 router which is connected to an extension then to a filter into the master socket.
Dont have another modem to try.
Ran a diagnostic on bt -
Test the connection to your local network
Test your Ethernet Connection: PASS
Test your Wireless Connection: PASS

Test the connection to your ADSL service provider
Test ADSL Synchronization: PASS
Test ATM OAM F5 segment ping: PASS
Test ATM OAM F5 end-to-end ping: PASS
Test ATM OAM F4 segment ping: FAIL
Test ATM OAM F4 end-to-end ping: FAIL

Test the connection to your Internet service provider
Test PPP server connection: PASS
Test authentication with ISP: PASS
Test the assigned IP address: PASS
Ping default gateway: PASS
Ping primary Domain Name Server: PASS

The only thing i am doing different is downloading at night.

Re: Getting cut off.

How are you downloading?  I believe that with some routers, P2P can saturate the routing tables and cause either a disconnection or loss of data transfer.  This was something that I was told a few years ago, so not sure if it will still be the case.

Re: Getting cut off.

using P2P, but used it all day yesterday through the day - out of my PAYG limit, and it did not disconnect.
