I've put my netgear dg834gv4 back in the box and am using the speedtouch 585v7 and so far no drops, the netgear was really good for a long time but lately although all the lights were lit there was nobody home so maybe it is a broadcom problem

Thought I would add that I've tried the PPPoE and LLC settings for the last couple of days.  The 1st day, yesterday, I had one drop, and today it has dropped about half a dozen times, so I've gone back to the normal settings.  At least we now seem to know that it's a BT thing, as other isps' are being affected too.
