Frequent Drop outs Red LED

Hi all, I've had a very good service for the past year, Good speed and good quality with only a couple of drops in connection in that time.
Now I am seeing the dreaded red LED on the front of my router quite often. As soon as I see the red LED my internet goes. This is happening more and more frequently.
In fact in the past 2 hours it has dropped 5 times.
To recap:
Internet dies-
Look at router, Red LED
Leave it for 2-3 mins
Comes back on all fine.....
The LEDs are normally green and only turn red when when it connection drops.
I have 'Asked a question' thing but I thought i would come and ask here while I wait.
Ive not changed any of my setup since install a year ago.

Re: Frequent Drop outs Red LED

I just checked. I can't because the socket is the type with the built in filter.  I've turned off the modem and router a couple of time to see if that fixed it but it didn't.

Re: Frequent Drop outs Red LED

If you unscrew the bottom half of the faceplate you should see the test socket, plug the router into the test socket

Re: Frequent Drop outs Red LED

I was aware of the test socket but as the modem connects directly to the socket via the smaller connector I am unable to plug it inyo the test socket without a filter. Do you know what I mean?
I will have a search for a filter.
If i use the cable from my telephone? Will that work?

Re: Frequent Drop outs Red LED

I can confirm that it is a problem with the router [TG582n].
I setup a direct connection with the modem and that was fine.
I setup a conventional connection with a different router I have borrowed and that is fine too.
I have notified PN and updated the ticket accordantly.
I presume they will send out a replacement?
Thanks.

Re: Frequent Drop outs Red LED

Hi, looks like that's already been arranged from checking the tickets on your account? The replacement should be with you within a couple of days, hope it sorts things out.

Sorry to hear that, I can see you've raised a fault - our team will be back to you as soon as they've been able to get everything tested.

Now it's completely gone off. No direct connection either.
