Re: Frequent Disconnects and Speed Drop

Thanks for that @sweeep1963 . As you may see from that, your speed should be much higher, and you are actually below the hand back threshold - by a very tiny amount.

I would wait for one of the Help team to pick this up, but if they haven't by close of play (8PM) tomorrow, post back Monday.

Re: Frequent Disconnects and Speed Drop

Yes I spoke to someone over the phone and it looks like they've done a reset as a speedtest now shows 39-40mbps, indicating a sync over 40 (I can't check to be exact as this modem doesn't show any stats), though still much lower than we've had in the past.

Re: Frequent Disconnects and Speed Drop

What modem/router do you have? If you can't get any stats off it/tem, I would replace them with something a little more useful.😉

Just the openreach one, it is unlocked to check stats in the past but at the moment it's not setup

Don't know that one, but does it not have some reporting functions?

Sounds about right then, but still low.

Re: Frequent Disconnects and Speed Drop

Do these errors seem fine to you? Left column is downstream and right is up.

Over what period? Although that figure does look a bit high.

Re: Frequent Disconnects and Speed Drop

The total on the right is since the last resync which was 1.5hrs ago. The left is per minute I believe.

Re: Frequent Disconnects and Speed Drop

Copied from a link found by Googling, as I am not an expert: An acceptable FEC rate is 100 per minute or 1500 within 15 minutes or 6000 per hour or less. Line interference from storm, electric motors, noisy ac line can cause increase in FECs.

Re: Frequent Disconnects and Speed Drop

It seems FEC errors aren't really much to worry about anyway. I'm not sure what the Bitswaps signify. Also I can see that interleaving is on for downstream and off for upstream. This could explain the lower speed?

Re: Frequent Disconnects and Speed Drop

I was going to edit my post re: FEC's. In answer to your other two points - no, they have no bearing on your connection speed.
