Free upgrade to "Up to 20Mbps"

Hi,
I was just wondering, after seeing the story about Plusnet migrating customers from their "up to 8Mbps" service to their "up to 20Mbps" service, how does this affect those of use on older broadband plans?
Does it mean I will be transferred to Plusnet Value/Extra/Pro package or will my current plan just be changed to "up to 20Mbps"?
Cheers.

Re: Free upgrade to "Up to 20Mbps"

Providing your exchange is ADSL2+ enabled you will be  although it might need a nudge via the ticket system if you move to one of the new products.
If you stay on your old product you will stay on up to 8Mbps

Re: Free upgrade to "Up to 20Mbps"

Your product will not change... as well as the exchange supporting ADSL2+, you will need an ADSL2+ capable router as well.
PN are upgrading all existing users in batches but a ticket may speed things up.

Please provide a link as I am not aware of any policy to move heritage products to the up to 20Mbps service

Wholesale Broadband Connect (WBC) is BT's next generation broadband product for ISPs. BT are currently upgrading each exchange to be able to offer WBC which will also bring ADSL2+ speeds of up to 24Mbps. We will post updates to the upgrade schedule as and when we receive them and also provide further details on WBC in the coming weeks.

Re: Free upgrade to "Up to 20Mbps"

At least your exchange looks like work is in progress with an upgrade to 21CN imminent,
I have no idea whether my local exchange will ever be upgraded !

Re: Free upgrade to "Up to 20Mbps"

On my exchange ADSL2+ has apparently been Enabled as of 31/03/2011.
I'm not sure which bit is wrong, the date or the bit that says Enabled!

It will not handle FTTC because it is the wrong router for it. FTTC requires a WAN router, an ADSL router will not work (unless it has a secondary WAN port).
Also the wireless speed of the V8 tops out at 19Mbs, far less than FTTCs 35Mbs speeds.

Re: Free upgrade to "Up to 20Mbps"

dont know about the V8 as I am not on FTTC but could be as my line goes next to a running FTTC cabinet,  but the V7 flashed is definitely used on the trial  http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,87836.0.html
