First post - Question on BB sped management

Hi,
Been with PN for a while,and quite happy with product and service.  My first post.
I spend approx 50% of my BB useage on gaming (Xbox360) and 50% general web.
I have been using the PN speed test to see what I actually get in upload and download.
My question is, why do I not consistantly have the higher download speed?  Below is a copy and paste of the results.

Its seems fairly stable at 950, but peaks at 1200.  having checked I don't think I go over my useage limit, which when I chose a package added a bit of 'fat' just in case.
Any idea's? Should I contact PN direct?

For internet performance I'd describe that as "remarkably consistent" to be honest.
(Speed testers are never that reliable anyway)
What does the BT Speed Tester say?
And do you have any router stats, showing attenuation etc. to post?

That's just how ADSL is configured. Most of us want download speeds prioritised over upload speeds and so ADSL was designed with that in mind.
Your speed figures are fine in that respect.

Just checked your line on BT checker. it looks like you are quite far from the exchange tbh. bellow is the BT

postcode distance calculators always find the Radial Distance which doesn't reflect the actual way the telephone wire is routed. (Radial Distance returns a distance of at least 3KM)
looks like your line attenuation is more than 43 dB, can you post your router stats plz?

Thanks for your answers, and questions. 
It took a few yeards for BB to creep out to where I live, and I am a distance from the exchange, so expectations were not the big.
I have an Origo Asr-8400 router,  would I find the stats etc that you are after in there?  I have had a look and TBH its only the second time I have used the interface since I bought it and am not sure where to look?
Point me in the right direction and I should be able to find them, just not sure which direction to be looking in.

Hi Maxx,
Your downstream attenuation is 59dB, which mwans that you're a long way from the exchange.
There are a few things that can often improve your speeds, such as making sure that all of your used telephone socket have a filter and that your router/modem is connecting to your master socket via a filter.  Sometimes it's also an idea to try using a different modem or router if you can, and try try using some new filters.

It's not abnormal.
Some of the things I talked about above may help to improve the SNR figure (ie: make it a bit lower) which would lead to an improvement in speed.

James, thanks.
I only have one phone in my house, and the router is plugged direct into that with a filter.  All phone calls are made on a mobile.
I shall get a new filter, as the current one must be 5 years old?
As long as all is ok ~ Thats good, I was only worried that I may  have been missing out on somthing!

Interestingly, it seems to be on a Fastpath circuit, not an interleaved circuit so it does mean that the line is possibly "better than average" quality for the line length.
I would certainly recommend an XTE2005, as long as you are able to site your router close to the master socket.
I would also consider an experiment:  a reduction in target SNR and also (possibly) switching Interleaving on - the sync speed you lose from the interleaving may be more than offset by the increase in sync you will get from the reduction in SNR margin.  (these would have to be actioned by PN)

there'd certainly be no harm in turning on interleaving.
Try the new socket first and see if it improves things at all.  If it doesn't we can try turning on interleaving to see if it makes an improvement.

Stats look pretty much the same in the router, speed test shows an improvement, tho. I tend to do the test later in the evening after work, and not as today in the middle of the day.  Not sure if this would make an impact.
