Fibre installed today - how soon optimum speed?

Hi,
Fibre extra installed today.
BT engineer did a line test and said it gave a reading of 80mb!
Having connected to the internet (wired to pc from router) i have managed a max of just over 30mb, and as low as 12mb download, averaging (just now tested) at just over 20mb. Ping 26 but been as low as 10.
I realise speeds may vary before settling after a few days but that seems a bit low to me?
Is this normal?

I'd say that seems particularly low, even thought it's in the early stages following activation we'd still advise raising a fault: http://faults.plus.net
