Fibre broadband connection without the router

Hello All,
I am a new customer, migrated today from bethere. With bethere I had a static IP and the router set to bridge mode.
Now that I have a dedicated modem, I wonder can I just leave the Technicolor TG582n router out of the equation and connect my linux gateway directly tothe modem. The linux comp is connecting a small LAN to the internet. One problem I envisage, it seems I still have to supply the login/pass credentials, where will I enter them then? Thanks for any thoughts.
BW,
B

Re: Fibre broadband connection without the router

"Roaring Penguin" (or probably "rp-pppoe" in the repo) will handle the connection. Google for configuration if the man pages are inadequate Wink

Hi,
Thanks both.
pppoeconf is the package so install for debian based distros (btw it uses rp-pppoe). The standard settings were fine for me and the install script takes one through them.
