Fibre being installed and want to keep my own router

Hi,
I have Plusnet Fibre being installed on Weds.  I would like to keep my own router (I have a custom build linux router)  Am I right in assuming that the BT VDSL modem will just bridge the line so all I need to do is reconfigure my IP on my router's eth0 port?

You will need a pppoe client on your router, shouldn't be a problem with Linux. This thread might help http://www.idnetters.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=22697.0

Re: Fibre being installed and want to keep my own router

Thanks for the reply.
That did help and also I would recommend https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ADSLPPPoE for configuration on a debian/ubuntu based system.
One problem I am encountering though is a lot of websites timing out. http://www.speedtest.net hangs waiting for c.speedtest.net and so does microsoft.com
I vaguely remember having a similar issue when connecting to sites hosted on Microsoft IIS in the past and think it was something to do with MTU settings?  Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?  (I haven't had chance to try it with the PN supplied router yet but will try that later today).
