Re: Fibre Unlimited Speed crashed from 50 Mbps to 12Mbps

Can you do http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/bbfaults/bt_speed_tester.shtml and make sure you get the results on the "Further Diagnostics" page if you get the option.

Re: Fibre Unlimited Speed crashed from 50 Mbps to 12Mbps

Hi things seem to have improved (I havent rebooted or disconnected)
The test gives 45.57 Download and 8.25 upload.
When I click on further diagnosics it says this after running the tests.
You appear to have not logged on as speedtest@speedtest_domain. In order to run the next test you should login as speedtest@speedtest_domain.
Please wait while you are redirected..

I thinks thats because I cant do a further diagnostics test within an hour of a previous one ?

It should have allowed you to run the test. Oh well, not to worry.
As things improved later in the evening there's a good chance your problem was caused by what's being discussed in the thread over here.

Re: Fibre Unlimited Speed crashed from 50 Mbps to 12Mbps

DuncanM:  It could be a peak time issue, rather than a particular gateway.  This doesn't match the problem we've been seeing wiht big spikes of latency.  Can you let us know if your speed drops tonight at peak?
Also, are you seeing any affects apart from the speed drop? I.e. lots of buffering on streaming, breaking up of VoIP, gaming lag etc.
Thanks.

Re: Fibre Unlimited Speed crashed from 50 Mbps to 12Mbps

OK, this speed test was about 5 minutes ago. Looks all normal. The only visible effects I see are buffering on You Tube and programs taking longer to download on to the sky box. A 2.6GB hour long HD program on BBCi Player normally will normally take 27 minutes to download to 100% on the Sky box connected via Ethernet when my connection is as it is below. Ill do another test in an hour of so. I dont use my connection for gaming or VOIP I'm afraid so cant comment on that aspect.

So, you are seeing buffering on Youtube right now?  Are you on HD quality?
