Fed up with Slow speed also

I've been with Madasafish & Plusnet for some years and never been able to get a stable good speed. BT have called many times and never found a fault on the line. They can connect at 7 megs..
New Dropper line outside, new faceplate & I-plate and terminals have been reconnected.
I have a Thomson Wireless Modem/Router plugged into the master socket via a I plate so have no microfilters. I have Panasonic DECT phones and BT phone on a doubler into the phone socket. There is no other wiring. disconnecting the phone isn't really an option, but willing to listen to suggestions.
In the history with Plusnet  here are pictures of the line performance which show instantaneous dropouts at odd times yet at other times 22 days no dropouts on my history with plusnet.

They are suggesting to try a different router as BT tests are O.K.  any idea what would be a good router to try in view distance from the exchange.
Any other ideas or comments. Plusnet  not come up with a fix so far over several months.
(we have tried directly into the Test socket no difference in speed.)

Re: Fed up with Slow speed also

I recommend a 2nd hand netgear DG384G v3 or v4 if you can't get a hold of them then a Netgear DGN1000 is fine enough
with thoses stats 7mbps is possible for sure.

Re: Fed up with Slow speed also

Yes but I don't recommend the DGN1000 http://www.amazon.co.uk/product-reviews/B002WOXYHS/ref=cm_cr_dp_all_helpful?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1...
Actually on your line the DG834Gv5 may be OK - it isn't too good on longer lines
EDIT - I think I see your problem
The iPlate isn't a filter - you need filters as well or do you mean a filtered faceplate

Re: Fed up with Slow speed also

Dear Jim
The Filtered faceplate is fitted, one with two sockets, one for phone and one for ADSL, I also have a spare of another make, there were questions in the past about the backing plate which was changed on the last but one visit.
Gone for a second hand 834G V4  off ebay although I see you go for V5. Thanks for the advice.

Re: Fed up with Slow speed also

Frankly no
Either you have a banded line - unlikely if you are on ADSL1 - or there is some horrible intermittent noise from an unfiltered device.
Can you connect the router to the test socket with a standard filter and see what happens

Re: Fed up with Slow speed also

Had a chat with Plusnet and they think I can plug the second phone into the double socket. so I have  see what you think Jim.. It was a brand new filter plate and backing plate and
redone terminations. I still have a Tamar faceplate, but for moment living in the test socket and see if the profile comes up. cheers Cal

Re: Fed up with Slow speed also

HI rachgain,
I'm surprised it's not come up yet. I'll check again in the morning and if it's not up then I'll considering resetting the SNR which usually kicks it into action.

Re: Fed up with Slow speed also

Hi Cal,
Resetting the SNR seems to have done the trick. Your profile is now 6000k. You should see the speed increase shortly.

Sure has, fastest in Dunoon it says, hope we can keep it like this thank you Cheesy you seem to be so much quicker than the helpdesk/ticket route which (as you know) I've been following
too.
