Faulty Filtered Faceplate?

I have a question regarding an extension I installed which recently dropped my DSL line to 1.4mbs (from over 4).
My setup is as follows:
I have a filtered faceplate on my master socket which is works fine. Recently I ran some (specially purchased) phone wire through my walls from the UNFILTERED terminals of this faceplate to a new filtered faceplate.
I then moved my router to the new faceplate and this was fine until fairly recently when my linespeed dropped to virtually nothing. I've since moved the router back to the original faceplate and my stats have improved.
My question is this - Is is possible to easily tell what the problem is? Have I got a dodgy filtered faceplate (in the new location)? Dodgy wiring? Or is there something else I need to have done?

If not, it would be worth trying the filtered faceplate connected via a short piece of cable to the unfiltered connections on the master - this would rule out out (or in) the wiring/routing.

Take a copy of your DSL stats whilst plugged into the Filtered XTE-2005 at the master.
Then use this Disconnect method - log into the modem/router, go to the Internet Session area and click Disconnect to drop the PPP(oA) Internet session to the ISP. Wait a minute and then power down the modem/router. Get a known good dangly "rats-tail" filter remove the XTE2005 faceplate, plug the filter direct into the test socket and connect the modem/router. Ensure you've taken at least 10 minutes since powering down, then power up, log in and click Connect if needed. Take a copy of the DSL stats.
What MJN I believe was suggesting was, on the assumption you have an IDC tool as you connected it all up in the first place - remove the extension face plate from its location (disconnect the wires that is) take a short length of spare twisted pair cable and connect it to the extension plate.
Repeat the Disconnect method above and then remove the filter etc from the Test socket. Remove the extension wiring from the XTE2005 faceplate and connect this short pair with the Extension plate.
Again make sure you've taken at least 10 minutes since powering down - this Disconnect method is to help prevent the Exchange DLM from thinking you have a dropping connection. So now Put the XTE2005 back on the Master and plug into the Extension Filtered plate.
Power up, click Connect and then take a copy of the DSL stats.
You may as well post those 3 lots of stats here before the last stage.
Use the Disconnect method again. Remove the XTE2005 and disconnect the short twisted pair from the plate and the Extension plate. Reconnect the Extension plate back at it's location and reconnect the wiring to the XTE2005 and refit. Again, ensure you've taken at least 10 minutes, then connect the modem/router and power up, click Connect. Take this last copy of the DSL stats and post them.

Okay that's fine. It was your mention of plugging the modem into a 'filtered faceplate' that had me worried. The modem needs an unfiltered connection. Only telephones (or rather any non-ADSL device) needs a filtered connection. That Solwise is fine given it provides both an unfiltered and filtered socket (and I am assuming you are plugging the modem into the unfiltered side of course!).
I'd follow Anotherone's troubleshooting advice...

Please let me know if there are any other scenarios, but it does look like from these stats, that the wire from the master to extension is lowering the sync speed, but I'll leave that to an expert to confirm.

If you have carried these checks out in daylight as recommended, and you dropped your PPP session before powering down and waited at least 10 minutes between each scenario, the results suggest that either you have a lot of noise on the line anyway (ie. a line fault) or you have been having a bad dropping connection anyway and DLM has possibly raised the Target Noise Margin from 9dB to 12dB.
In any event, taking the initial figures, the line is under-performing for the attenuation, and bearing in mind your OP with the speed previously dropping to 1.4Mbps. If your line was in tip top condition you should be able to get a sync speed nearer 7Mbps with a 6Mbps profile.
If you run the BTw Performance Tester, ignore the red pre-amble and after the first test has completed, click Further Diagnostics at the bottom of the page, then enter your number and run the test, it will give you the Current IP Profile.
You can copy and paste the results into a post (no need to capture an image).
If you are still plugged in at the test socket, have a listen to your line and see if you can hear (or have heard) any crackling or other audible noises. You can dial 17070 select option2 for the Quiet line test if need be. Have you had any problems with incoming or outgoing calls at all?
If you aren't still plugged into the test socket, just carry out the check from the socket you are connected to.

The line is quite noisy, although its not connected to the test socket now as I've put it all back together.
