Fault on line apparently fixed

BT spent 7 hours between my house and the exchange yesterday, and came back this morning to replace a damaged peice of line which was causing me many loss of sync problems, and created what was like a dial up modem sound on the line when using the phone.
Now the line has been replaced, I was wondering if anyone can get my throughput / sync speed increased, or set to how it was when Plusnet first activated my internet 2 or 3 weeks ago.
I ask this because with the constant sync loss my router stats are quite literally, fail.
Uptime: 0 days, 0:51:57

DSL Type: G.992.1 annex A

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 1,408

Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]: 0.00 / 0.00

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 16.0

Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 28.5 / 49.0

SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 20.0 / 19.0

Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / TSTC

Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0

Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0

Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0

Loss of Link (Remote): 0

Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 0 / 0

FEC Errors (Up/Down): 1 / 1,086

CRC Errors (Up/Down): 1 / 1

HEC Errors (Up/Down): 3 / 1
"Throughput is equivalent, if not less than dialup.. even with this sync speed."
Now that the line is fixed I thought that it would magically sync at a higher speed.. Say 4, 5 mb... I thought wrong. Tongue
Would appreciate if anyone could get this changed back to defaults / raised for me..As having to wait another week or 3 for speeds to get to normal doesn't appeal to me, nor does it seem fair.  Embarrassed
Thanks alot
Tj

Edit: Account name Dorandoran and there's currently a ticket open about this.

Re: Fault on line apparently fixed

This is what BT speed tester says at the moment
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
    Your DSL connection rate: 1408 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 135 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 100 kbps
There's not enough throughput to do small things like play games, let alone download at the moment.
Could anyone help, please ;(?

Re: Fault on line apparently fixed

Hiya,
Basically, your line is profiled down because of a connection speed that you previous have.  It might take a couple of days, but it should pick up again if you remain connected at the same speed.

As the line had a fault on it how long will it take for the SNRM to be reduced? The IP profile will increase because of the higher sync speed but the line should be capable of higher speeds.

Re: Fault on line apparently fixed

I wouldn't even consider touching the noise margin until the line had been stable for a few days.
But we can look at that later.

Re: Fault on line apparently fixed

Ok thanks alot, i guess i'll just have to wait then.  Undecided
Also i'd just like to point out that when i first connected it was with this SN margin:
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 17.0 / 6.5
So as you can see these drop outs have made it increase significantly..Although i'm not sure this is any use to you I thought i'd just make you aware.
Anyways, thanks alot and "hopefully" speed will improve

Thanks - Although there's a possibility that the low SNR could have been a reason for your dropping connection.
Let's see how its behaving in a few days Smiley

Are new users now put onto ADSL2+ at time of connection?
