Please could someone explain to me the relevance of the MSR and FTR statistics.
How do they compare to the actual broadband speed that should be expected when running a computer speed test?

Thanks, that explains it as I seemed to understand it. The reason I ask is my line test shows up:
Maximum Stable Rate (KBPS): 6816
Fault Threshold Rate (KBPS): 5452
But my speed is only running at 1400, and nobody seems to bothered about it as BT Speedtest claims are up to 1mbps.
Am I missing something? Surely if FTR is 5.4mbps, that is what my line should be capable of recieiving?

My IP profile is also set at 1.3mbps, but historically my speeds have been 50% higher than this.

Never mind MSR and FTR, post your full router stats, connection speeds, attenuation etc. Or raise a speed fault with PLUSNET

Why do you say never mine MSR and FTR? Surely they are relevant? As I understand it from the link posted earlier line speed should be above FTR, but I was hoping someone could confirm this for me.
How do I find full stats (e.g. attenuation) on a TP Link router please? All I can find is line rate.

Which model? And have you try a reboot?  - just one, not repeated ones which will make things worse.

Previously when watching a video on YouTube for example my speed used to rise to the max speed, and flatline until it reached the end of the download. Now my speed seems to fluctuate quite a bit at max level, leaving a more jagged line, and also suffers from speed drops before recovering again. It cannot maintain a constant speed.

Can you hear any crackling or other noises on the phone line when using the phone? If so report a phone fault, but don't mention the broadband or you get the run around.

Are the speed tests do via wireless or wired?

All tests done via wired.

There is a very small bit of background noise if you listen hard but nothing major. i.e. it's not dead silent but probably 98%.
