Faster upload?

I seem to remember it being possible to derestrict your upload?
How do I do that?
I'm doing a lot of video editing and uploading 2gb files to youtube is ridiculous at 20kb/s! Halp!

Re: Faster upload?

That doesn't sound like a Plusnet restriction as they don't restrict it for anything other than VPN
Normal achieved upload speed would be about 370kbps on ADSL (448kbps sync)
You can request that the upload be uncapped on ADSL2 which should at least double the sync speed but that isn't your problem.
Is it possible that your Security Package is scanning the file as you upload it

Re: Faster upload?

I don't have a security package.  Grin 37kb? Yeah thats my point. Thats largely useless for uploading videos to youtube sadly. Unless taking 120mins to upload 350mb is acceptable to you sir!
I'd like to upload at 100kb/s or more ideally. I am on ADSL2+ exchange .. is this not possible on this ISP?
Edit: I should add I am not looking for *synchronous* upload/download at 100kb/s+. Just uploading.

Re: Faster upload?

Are you switching units on me - I am giving numbers in kilo bits per sec and you seem to be giving them 10 times less - are you using kilo bytes per second kBps
As I said in my earlier post you can request the upload be uncapped - raise a ticket - and that may give you about 1000kbps sync which should give about 100kBps upload depending on your distance from the exchange

Re: Faster upload?

HI reetpetite,
I've just placed an order to uncap your upstream. This should complete tomorrow. I have added a comment to your ticket confirming this.

Re: Faster upload?

Thanks I look forward to seeing the difference. At present my upload maxes out at 37.4kBps. My download at 8megs. Which is bloody good for adsl over a mile from the exchange .. I know. So I have high hopes I will be able to upload at 100+.

Re: Faster upload?

Ok, I now get 92kb/s up. Is that the 'limit' for business reasons? If so, cool thanks. If not .. please sir, can I have some more?  Grin

Re: Faster upload?

Post your router stats - I suspect it is the limit your line will support.
For future clarity can you use the following abbreviations
kb - kilo bits
kB - kilo bytes

Re: Faster upload?

Trying to stay on the same subject,
I have a mate, who I am trying to get to come to plusnet, he with BT at the mo,
He has an upload speed off 450Kbps dits per sec, compared to my 336Kbps  BUT
His download is 36Kbps, yes 36Kbps, very very very sloooow, I have between "6-8k" Kbps
How come,????
He does say that when he gets round to getting it fixed, he dropping BT and moving to "here"? hopefully

Re: Faster upload?

HI reetpetite,
To be honest you're not likely to get much more than 900k. I know I don't and I'm only 200yds from the exchange.
