Got my 78 MB unlimited package on Tuesday.
In tests(100GB) got up to 12MB per sec download with it usually sticking around 8.5-9.
Since Wednesday night it's slowed to the point where's it's on par with my old ADSL2 (900k a sec)
i get spikes of higher speeds but it doesn't last, changes radically per second down to 500KB/s
Connection is stable. hasn't dropped once.
short length of cat6 straight into the BT modem, which is straight into the master socket.
My exchange is Green - no sign of overload.
BT BROADBAND AVAILABILITY CHECKER
WBC FTTC Up to 60.1 Up to 20 -- Available
Tuesday 20:40 43755 kbps (5.47MB/s) 18016 kbps (2.25MB/s)
slowing after 8-9MB/s all day from 1PM. Not seen consistent high speed since.
Wednesday 23:11 61712 kbps (7.71MB/s) 18090 kbps (2.26MB/s)
Didn't last - average download speed 2-3MB/s
Thursday 00:30 68353 kbps (8.54MB/s) 18037 kbps (2.25MB/s)
After a BT box restart, didn't last - average download speed 2-3MB/s
Today 15:52 18107 kbps (2.26MB/s) 17963 kbps (2.25MB/s)
Today 23:04 10787 kbps (1.35MB/s) 15323 kbps (1.92MB/s)
today - pretty much all day. with the odd spike up to 8MB./s
My line speed check is 78 Mbps
Still in the first 10 days. but an average of ADSL2 speeds isn't a slight variation.
It's a country mile from the consistent 8-9MB download I got that first day.

Hi rathomir,
Welcome to our community forums,
Are you able to run a speedtest - http://speedtest.btwholesale.com when you see the slowdowns?
Also is this over a wired or wireless connection?

Thanks
Cat6 straight into the BT box.
I can't run the level 3 test as when I connect using the speed test account, I can't ping the target IP address.
The level 2 test displayed I am below the minimum expected speed.
Yesterday intraday I got 9-13MB/s consistently until about 5 pm. After that I got 900k - 5 MB/s until midnight, at which point it improved slightly.
A busy line between me and the cabinet at peak time?
If so how can I verify that, and what are the retention option (short of generating a neighbour wifi interruption field)
Doesn't appear to be a throttle, as I see spikes up to a much higher bandwidth.
In my experience a throttled connection monitoring graphs has a flat top, like a glass ceiling.
I'm gearing up for a 24 hour download test to understand if there's a bandwidth reduction pattern.

I think what you needed to do was copy and paste the result of the 2nd additional diagnostic test. This would show the IP profile which can be calculated to your sync rate. Also eliminating several miss-configurations as the possible cause of the issue.

What result do you get from http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.html ?
This can be helpful as it does two types of download test (single and multi-threaded, two different protocols).

Quote from: rathomir Yesterday intraday I got 9-13MB/s consistently until about 5 pm.
These speeds are going to equate to a speed of between 72Mb/s and 104Mb/s, just wondering if that is reporting correctly.
There's no current capacity issues at your exchange .
