I've had FTTC since 28/5/14. The Quinn's installer who fitted it said I was first on the cabinet, so I have to assume a number of new users since then may have impacted my service, but it does not appear that I am getting my full capacity downstream. The installer had great difficulty getting a line test - took 14 tries to get a result, which was 68.something down. I was delighted by that - my ADSL service had been somewhat flaky, and I'm aware that my cabinet is a fair distance away.
Estimated and current line speeds from the member centre:
Estimated line speed:
69Mb (Download speed could vary depending on line conditions. Estimates are the maximum speeds that your phone line can support. These speeds are dependent on the package you choose.) - Checked on 2014-05-03 02:03:00
Current line speed:
54.2 Mb
BTW speedtester attached.
Screenshot of Modem Stats also attached. Over 500 million FEC errors in 5 days - is that excessive? I've no idea, but on the face of it certainly seems so. The other figures that concern me is the attainable rate vs. the synch rate - how can there be more than 8000Kbps of a difference?
The connection stays up for days at a time as opposed to when I was on ADSL and connection was dropping sometimes several times a day. I have a theory about that...
Here in Inverness they are installing flood alleviation measures along the banks of the River Ness. This has meant extensive road works and road closures over the last couple of years. Guess which route my line takes from the exchange to the cab?
I suspect that may have been the source of my ADSL performance dropping from on average 16Mbps to about 12Mbps over the same sort of period.
At the moment, I'm not looking to treat this as a fault, but I would like to see the results of a GEA test, such as I've seen on other threads, so I can confirm the figures produced by HG612 stats. [1]
[1] I've also got a thread open on he Kitz forums about this, but Bald_Eagle, presumably a very busy Haliaeetus leucocephalus, hasn't yet replied to my posting from a couple of days ago, hence my bringing this here.
(And in any case, Bald Eagles can't get me a GEA test... )

My attainable rate is 50Mbps, but I get around 46Mbps maximum. Why? DLM. Max attainable is a calculation based on what the router can see about your line. Various stats such as attenuation etc will allow it to calculate max attainable. However, your line attenuation is different to your signal attenuation, as signal attenuation is interference. If you can login to the HG612 modem via telnet, you can run a couple of commands to find out more information.
If you're willing to give that a go, we can have a more in depth look?
I'd take a look at the BT estimator now, and see what your line estimate is. On the face of it, it looks as though you should be getting higher speeds. You can check here https://www.dslchecker.bt.com. Plusnet last checked your line in May, so it's possible that BT have change their estimate because more people have jumped on the cabinet.
Even if more people have jumped on the cabinet, your throughput on the tester is far lower than your IP Profile. Did you do the test via Ethernet or WiFi?

All testing via ethernet.
What telnet commands do you want me to try?

Looking at that, you're on a pretty high interleaving level on your downstream. If you look at the 'D', that shows interleaving, and 1099 is a pretty high, 1 (like shown in your upstream) is the fast path setting. You have a standard level of Impulse Noise Protection (INP), which is put on to try and reduce noise on the line, so it's possible you may have a small level of noise from somewhere. The 'delay' of 8 on the downstream is an 8ms delay.
Your error counts on the downstream are low, and so are your errored seconds (ES) compared to your available seconds (AS). Your unavailable seconds (UAS) is quite high however, that number should be a lot lower, that is beyond my skills, and might be worth a hop over to the kitz forum with these stats.
Your line is pretty much operating at the highest speed it will as you can see by your SNR values of 5.3dB downstream, and 5.9dB upstream (it'll aim for 6dB).
Looking at your line attenuation compared to signal attenuation, there is something causing a bit of noise on your DS 1 (downstream) channel. Your line attenuation is 16.2dB but your signal is 18dB.
If you go over to kitz forums, they'll be able to give you more information such as the DSLAM you're connected to, and whether you can access all of the upstream/downstream channels.
Your stats look pretty okay to me, your 'unstableness' is not being cause by the router disconnecting and reconnecting as your AS shows an uptime of 6 days. Something else is causing your slow speeds on the speed tester, as those results are definitely not right.
For future reference, if the 'retrain reason' is 0, it usually means a genuine resync, or router reboot. If it's 1, it's a resync triggered by DLM.

I've already got a thread going on the Kitz Forum where I'm getting some sage advice, so armed with all of this can I repeat my request to the Digital Care Team for a GEA test, please?
TIA...

Anyone know what Egress and Ingress Code Violations are, and if they might indicate a problem?
I'm still getting red speedtest reults from BTw - should I raise a speed fault?

We're pushing for a report from our suppliers which would provide us with 15 minute updates for FTTC lines which would help us identify trends, especially important for fault finding. In my opinion, I'd raise a fault as you're seeing errors on the lien which is the likely cause for the lower sync.
