FTTC speeds down to 1Mb/s but no line problems?

My FTTC speeds have gradually been slowing down and are now down to as low as 1Mb/s at times, 12Mb/s if I'm lucky. At the moment (11:15am) they're around 2.8Mb/s download and 1.8Mb/s upload. The cabinet is about 200 metres away. My ipprofile download speed is 77.43Mb/s and download 20Mb/s. I've raised a fault (number 66496489) and run all the tests as requested, but the only response I've been given is that there may be some gateway problems, try re-booting the modem. I've done that, but no improvement. tracert's before and after re-boot shown below:

Rebooting the modem isn't good advice. It's much better to disconnect/reconnect from the router admin page.
Are you running via wired or wireless?

This happens to me periodicly and I just enter the routers setup and drop the connection briefly. That usually cures it!

Re: FTTC speeds down to 1Mb/s but no line problems?

Is it happening in the evenings or all day long?
It could be related to the problems in this thread: http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,111170.msg969904.html#new and here http://portal.plus.net/supportpages.html?a=2&support_action=messages&ispservice_id=adsldial

Re: FTTC speeds down to 1Mb/s but no line problems?

Re-booting the modem is what Plusnet have told me to do. I've also tried stopping and re-starting from the router. Speed at 13:35 today is 1.13Mb/s down and 1.54Mb/s up. I've tried wireless and wired. Some of the speed tests have been run directly connected to the modem, so it's not the router.

Just a long shot...
Some previous posters have had problems with anti-virus software suddenly limiting throughput to the internet. Do you get the same results with AV disabled? Also, I think Flash has also been known to cause problems... I assume it's not just a problem with speed test sites? Everything is slow to access on the internet? Do you get the same results downloading a large file?

Tried it on 3 computers with AV updates disabled. Also having problems streaming Lovefilm / iPlayer from smart TV.

Re: FTTC speeds down to 1Mb/s but no line problems?

I'm sorry but there is definitely a fault with your service here. You should be getting much faster speeds. I'm going to get this looked at again.
Really sorry about this.
