Re: FTTC Live today on 40/10 query over 80/20

My IP profile down is currently 33.9 and 20 up. On member centre has line speed as the 76.2. Asked cs this morning if 76.2 was the standard 80/20 to line speed that on put on all 80/20 accounts but was advised the 80/20 profile top line is normally set at 78mb  this is what is making me ask the questions.

Re: FTTC Live today on 40/10 query over 80/20

Oh, that's not so consistent.  78 is definitely the normal setting for anyone on the full 80Mbit sync.
Might be worth disconnecting and reconnecting the router (NOT the modem) via the router's web interface, if the modem's had a quick resync it's not always picked up because the PPP session doesn't always drop.

Re: FTTC Live today on 40/10 query over 80/20

Just spoke to PN on Phone. 23:40 now I am confused even more.
Name and account details not taken but the following advice was given. I would appreciate if someone could please tell me if this is right as each person i speak to is giving me more potential scenarios.
I have just been advised:
1. Each FTTC goes live on 40/20 profile which is normal?
2. 80/20 amendment made where required?
3. The full affect off the 80/20 profile change can take 72 hrs to bear fruit after it has gone through and until this time my speeds are restricted to the 40/20 profile despite the order for 80/20 being completed. This apparently explaining my PN line profile of 76.2 but my speeds apparently being held back until the 80/20 speeds is acknowledged by the system and my top limit is removed.
4. I have been assured that as of the 72 hrs of the 80/20 order being completed my speeds should jump upto the 76.2 ish that my PN line profile suggests.
I was also advised off the "10 day training period" which I have read from the posts of forum mods etc is not applicable to FTTC.
All help is appreciated esp. if at least two sources confirm each other.
Confused.

Re: FTTC Live today on 40/10 query over 80/20

Rubbish
Mine hit 51 within 5mins of OR engineer plugging in equipment. Seeing as it starts out at full speed means DLM had already kicked in to lower the rate. Its stayed like that until you got another engineer for to sort the wiring out as the first engineer had not bothered.
The only time and believe they put people on 40/10 is if the estimate and then is below that. Or they make a mistake not putting you on the 80/20 service in the first place Smiley

Re: FTTC Live today on 40/10 query over 80/20

As above - my line speed was around 72Mb/s straight away and it didn't change much over the 10 day period.

I can see the modify order has completed to move you to the 80/20 product although it doesn;t look like there's been any improvement.
The line speeds set on our systems was manually changed by me and I just hadn't set it all the way to 78Mb/s, this will automatically adjust to your IP profile soon.

Re: FTTC Live today on 40/10 query over 80/20

hi chris. Thanks for your reply.  Can you advise me of any of the info I have been given on the phone recently is solid or incorrect.  is there a ten day period of training?  the forums say not tech support should I see the increase to 76.2mb as Promised by last stsff member at tech support.
Last night I was promised my line speed will increase ti the manual line speed within 72 hrs.
is it any wonder I am confused.

Re: FTTC Live today on 40/10 query over 80/20

Looking at your speeds at the minute they seem to be as high as they are going to go, I can see that your line estimate it 28.1Mb/s downstream, I changed you over to the 80/20 product as you were exceeding those speeds and near the 40Mb/s mark in hope that you may receive even higher speeds. That's not the case though.
My colleague that you spoke to I will feedback to him to make sure he doesn't misinform/confuse anyone, as your speed profile will reduce to match your current sync speed soon.

Re: FTTC Live today on 40/10 query over 80/20

Hi Chris,
thank you for you assistance and for passing on feedback to the CS with the wild promises of my speed jumping to 76.2mb within the next 72 hrs. I spoke to another CS tonight when I paid the pro-rata charge for the rest of this month and he was clued up on the FTTC process.
disappointing but glad to have some sensible information.
